Amantadine...should it work everyday???

Hey people...long time no talk to and that is all my fault!  I have a few things to ask and report but I will put them in separate posts so that they don't get mixed up and I hope that I don't take up too much time or space.\

I know there are some people here on Amantadine for fatigue as I am.  The question I have is, does it work for you  every day in helping you fight your fatigue or do you still have a few days a week that nothing other than falling back to bed after getting up is the only way to fight the fatigue?  I am looking at a few possibilities other than MS that might be the cause of my fatigue and I figure other's experiences with this med would be the best way to know which way to  go.

Thanks in advance for any help offered on this subject and it's good to be here!

Lots of sleepy  hugs,
Rena

I was prescribed Amantadine (200mg) once a day. Don't know that I really
felt much but then again perhaps I needed to take it longer as I only took it for
a few days.

Neuro has now prescibed me Methyline   (because insurance is no longer paying for provigil anymore as  they are fazzing (sp) it out and replacing it w/ Nuvigil and they feel like they don't have enough research on it to want to pay for it any longer....dumb right?)

Anyhow...back to my story. The Methyline I was prescibed I took only HALF of the pill and it made me feel like I was on some SERIOUS uppers...... Speed. I only took it that one time as I did not like the feeling but I read somewhere that I should give it at least a week to get used to it. Perhaps I should try it again!

Hope your Neuro can help w/ something for your fatigue.
Why do you think you have something else is causing such fatigue? If you don't mind me asking?

Well, I think it depends on why it was prescribed and what other drugs one is on. Also, side effects likely increase with dosage.

Here is one site that talks about it for MS:

I have seen web references of up to 400 mg/day, but I think this whole topic should be reviewed with your doctor before any experimentation. You have a lot of health issues going on.

For me, 100 did nothing. I then tried 200 all at once. Still nothing. I'm now being advised to seek a script for Provigil.

Hey Ess!  I am currently taking 100mg twice daily...one at 0800 and another at 1400hours.  I haven't tried increasing it but I am to see my Neuro in April so I will ask him about that.  Do you know what the maximum dose is?

How much Amantadine do you take, Rena? Have you tried increasing the dose on bad days?
