Anybody have this reaction on Copaxone?

I'm fairly new to Copaxone, and I have not been having any issues other then the typical reactions right when I take the shot.  I take it about 1 hour before bedtime.  Then I get up about 4:30 the next morning for work and eat breakfast.  About an hour or so after I eat I feel really lightheaded and woozy, almost like my blood sugar or pressure is messed up, but it doesn't make much sense if had just eaten an hour before.

Then the same thing happens after lunch, and yesterday I almost felt like I was going to black out for a second or two with some vertigo at the same time.

I have never had blood sugar issues, but I have borderline high blood pressure with both of my pregnancies and it runs up there at times (mostly when my husband and kids drive me crazy).  Lately though, my pressure has been in the normal range.

I'm not sure if this is something that I should be concerned about or not.  The only other med that I am on is Gabapentin, but only 300mg daily.  I plan on calling shared solutions when I have a chance, but I'm hoping that it is just my body adjusting to the meds.

Any thoughts?  TIA!

Hi! I have never heard of a reaction like that from Copaxone but it sounds an awful like like a sugar drop.

You said that it doesn't make much sense because you get these "events" after eating an hour or so before but that makes total sense.

When you eat your sugar goes up at first but then it drops back down to "normal" after you digest your food and your body sends all of the right amounts of insulin.

If you are having major sugar drops you would get light headed and maybe even pass out. Your sugar should come down to around 70 or 80 an hour after eating but I have had it drop to 40 and felt just like you.

Call your doctor and let them know what is happening. They might want to run a quick blood test that gives them your average sugar levels over the last 90 days or they may suggest checking your sugar for a few times when you feel like this just to be sure it isn't a hyperglycemic event.

Good luck
Hugs,
Erin :)
