Anyone experience numb buttocks?

by michelleric, Jan 15, 2009 04:05PM
I know that is a strange question, but thought I would ask. I am having surgery for 2 herniated discs in my neck on the 26th, however I have a new strange symptom that the doctor says is not related to my neck. In my upper buttocks, it is totally numb. No pain, just numb, totally numb.  It has been that way about 2 weeks. Anyone ever have this? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Michelle

My daughter had numb hips for almost 3 months but we thought her wedding dress was too tight.  Not so.

My butt is numb in two patches - on either side of the tailbone, about where the hands would be if I cupped my behind.  It's odd that the numbness should be symmetrical - but it's more numb on one side than another, so maybe it's not.

What was the cause of the numbness? MS?

What has your doctor said about the numbness?

I have had numbness in my nether regions at different times.  It is quite disconcerting.  It was never totally numb, but felt pretty devoid of sensation and each time lasted a couple weeks.  I figured it out after my diagnosis.

My butt is numb right now. It's like that a lot. Also, it's very very cold. Not to get to personal, but my husband is always asking me why my butt is so cold.

Quix - yeah, it is a little weird!  Weirdest is when I know my husband has patted me on the butt, and I can't feel it.

Michelle, my neuro just says 'oh, it's MS!'
