Anyone know anything about peripheral neuropathy

by biowham, Feb 22, 2008 02:34PM
Is it something in which the symptoms worsen with exercise? Or do they improve? Or does it vary?

Yours in working some differential dxs--

Hi, E.  You ask a question that covers a huge field of info.  The answer is yes.  If the peripheral neuropathy involves motor neurons, then it is quite possible for a PD to cause fatigue with use.  There is also a Peripheral Nervous System counterpart to MS which causes demyelination, slowed conduction and the whole schmeel, called CIDP or Chronic Inflammatory (or Immune) Demyelinating Polyradiculopathy.  It also has dozens of subtypes, many of which could see fatigue with use.

There is sensory only PD which would not.  And there is small fiber neuropathy which causes pain, temperature and bloood flow changes, and often edema.

This probably didn't help your DDx, but there it is.

Thanx. (Sorry--couldn't help that x there). I'm assuming this would be sensory. Whenever I walk anywhere, especially on a exercising-type walk, everything fires up burning, tingling, electric shocks, etc. Both feet now (used to be just the one). I keep walking for exercise, but it's a notable effect.

Thanx, Quix. ;)
