Appontment with new neuro went well...

I went for my appointment with my new Neurologist. The first one I went to a year and a half ago was just not the right one for me.  He basically sent me home and told me to come back in a month if my symptoms were still there (as if they would disappear suddenly after hanging around for at least two years).  So I prepared a time line and spent many hours rehearsing what to say before this appointment.  I did not give her the time line, but preparing it helped me get my thoughts organized and helped me remember what I wanted to say.  She said, "I don't want to scare you, but this might be MS!"  She is ordering a head MRI and said that if it does not show anything she will do a spine MRI.  She also ordered blood tests for Lymes, etc. and to check my ANA which has been high before.  I was very impressed!  I was preparing for a real battle, but she seemed to believe everything I said.  I asked her what made her think it might be MS and she said that people with MS often have problems with heat.  I had mentioned that my symptoms get worse when I am hot.

I remembered reading a post earlier this week from someone who was basically dropped by her neuro because the head MRI was clear.  My neuro told me that she expected to see something on my head MRI because I mentioned numbness in my face.  If the symptoms are not in the head the head MRI could be clear.  I have also read that primary progressive MS may not ever show lesions on the brain.  So I think that a clear head MRI should not be the end of the road for some people.

Hey Ollie -

So, when you go for the brain MRI? I agree, they should send you for the C- and T-spine MRIs along w/this.  Only makes sense if they are trying to rule in, or out MS.

Have we never chatted? I'm thinking not.  You still have the face numbness?

A belated welcome to you,
be well,
Shelly

I am so happy for you that you found a good neuro.  The  tests she ordered are all very appropriate and should help  you and her find some answers.

Good Luck and please keep us posted when you get your test results and have your next appt.

Sounds like you may have a good one this time!!!!!!!!  I am happy for you that you have found a neuro that seems concerned and is believing you and doing what needs to be done!!

I will be seeing a new neuro at the end of this month, because mine got another job somewhere else. I have been with him for two years, and am a little nervous about changing now!!

Hopefully he will as good as the one you have found!!!!

Make sure to update us on the progress!!!!!!!!
