Are these MS Symptoms?

Are these MS Symptoms?

I'm going to put a timeline of sorts of stuff I can recall, I'm now suspecting MS and having a hindsight 20/20 moment.
For basics, I am a 23 year old african american female. I am deficient in iron and vitamin D.

Fall 2008
Vision changed in right eye only. I have glasses now but I don't have to wear them, if that makes since. My left eye is still 20/20 ish.

Summer 2009
I noticed at random points in time (twice) i would have a ripping feeling in my abdomen. It wasnt painful, just felt really weird.

Summer (May) 2010
Left hand had the pins and needles feeling, then both feet, legs, abdomen. It progressed upward in that order. I'll say over 2 weeks. It lasted for probably 2-3 weeks and then descended. I went to the doctor and they did the basic neurological exams I assume. I had no apparent weakness. I used the word "numb" to describe how it felt but I guess thats not totally accurate. I still felt pressure, temperature changes ect. Nothing felt heavy as I have heard some people describe numbness. If surface numbness makes any sense, thats how I would describe it.
This whole thing started around the time my menstrual cycle begin.

The next month (July)  around the time of my menstrual cycle, I experienced the same thing. This time it didn't progress upward, it was localized to both feet up to the ankles.

Fall 2010

same thing happened that happened in July, surface numbness on my feet and ankles.

SUMMER 2011 (Present)

July 18th ish i noticed one finger on my left hand had the pins an needles feeling. I'm really unsure as to how to describe the feeling because it doesnt feel like my hand has fallen asleep. But it progressed from one finger, to all fingers, to my hand, and forearm. Then my left side/abdomen, left leg and foot. I notice it when im moving my hand the most (typing, picking up things, touching things) if my hand is completely still its unnoticeable. It almost feels like its tight. For the other body parts, I notice it when clothes touch my skin.
Again this started around my menstrual cycle.

I believe I have l'hermitte's sign too. When I bow my head, its a jolt of something in the same spot where it felt like something ripped a while back. Left side lower back. Sometimes it feels like I need to pop my back in that spot.

I've had lower back pain before in that region, but I always attributed to a muscles strain.

I know that this is written horribly but I just wanted to document this for my appointment with a GP next week.

You certainly have many symptoms that could be related to MS but they could also be one of the many MS mimics... Almost every person I know with MS is different... We may have some of the same symptoms but they might affect us in different ways...

It's so hard to answer the question "Is this MS?"... When you go see your GP I would definetely ask for a referral to a MS specialist/Neurologist... The quicker you can get to the bottom of it the quicker you can start treatment for whatever it is...

Please keep us posted on how your appointment goes... I'm interested in hearing what he says... Also, if you need to talk or ask questions please do so... I wish you the best...

I'll be praying,
Carol

It's hard to say if they're MS symptoms.  There are many diseases or problems that can cause some of the symptoms ranging from vitamin deficiency or hormonal problems to autoimmune problems.  Because you are experiencing what may be neurological problems, I would see a neurologist.  I couldn't even speculate what it could be.  A neurologist will more than likely run a multitude of blood tests to see if he/she can find the problem this way, listen to your history, do a neurological exam, run others tests like possibly an EVP and MRI, etc.

What kind of eye problems did you experience in your right eye?

I didn't experience any problems. I realized my vision had diminished only when I went to the dmv. Otherwise I would have never guessed I had a vision issue.
Since May this year, that eye has been red. And I don't know why. I've but redness drops in it and it clears up but the redness comes back. Initially there was pain when I looked far right or up. I took Advil and that never returned.  I'm making myself feel worst by worrying about whats wrong with me. When I get to talking with my friends are hardly notice my left side feels odd.

Ill be sure to respond after my appt.

Thanks

Hello,

The Dr. I saw today didnt seem very concerned that it was anything serious, as I expected. They are doing blood work to see exactly how low my iron and vitamin D levels are. They described it as some neuropathy that is happening because of the iron and/or vit D.
We'll see. The Dr. said if it doesnt get better or worsens that they would refer me to a neurologist.

Luckily since the post I feel better (not as gloomy feeling). As for the abnormal senstions... its main just my left hand now. Its annoying but I notice it less if I keep myself busy.

Also I noticed that my hand feels much better when I have on gloves (I work in a lab).

The redness could be a sign of other eyeproblems like uvietis.  Sometimes people with autoimmune diseases get this.  It doesn't sound like optic neuritis, but you should most definitely get this checked out by an ophthalmologist.
