I just got my radiologist report back of my brain MRI, havent seen md or neuro yet about these. My chiro got a copy so i went and picked it up. It says "Several scattered nonspecific punctate perventricular white matter signal hyperintensities may be of incidental note". Differential diagnosis woud include minor changed related to migraine headaches. Kind of sounds boiler plate to me, but what do I know:o)
My orthoOrtho cyclen Ortho evra Ortho micronor Ortho tri-cyclen Ortho tri-cyclen lo Ortho-cept Ortho-cyclen Ortho-est Ortho-novum 1/35 Ortho-novum 1/50 Ortho-novum 7/7/7 ordered the thorasic spine and brain MRI because he feels "THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON". He does not aspire to the idea apparently that cervcical herniations even with cord impression cause Lower extremityExtremity arteriography issues. Thoracic MRI which was done on .6T machine (I know now, no good if looking for lesions) but good to be sitting up when imaging herniations. - THORACIC RESULTS - multiple bulges pressing on thecal sac and 1 herniation pressing on thecal sac
HX: .Anyway in early march my right foot went numb, following with leg pain, I woke up the next day and couldnt walk, severe muscle weakness, could barely stand, it has relented since and I am able to walk about 20 mins before they become spastic, clumsy etc., but it has PLATEAU'D. I have paresthesias in groin, buttock, right foot, sometimes left, cervical area numbness. I have also had increased word finding problems that other have noticed and start studdering at times, word finding VERY bad at times.
My ortho doesnt seem to relate the lower extremity weakness with the 2 cervical herniations impressing on the cord, god only knows why. I am to see a neuro on the 27th, neurosurgeon on 24th.
Any thoughts on the MRI??? Oh also I have a right 9mm maxillary cyst or polyp, perhaps that why when I get a cold the right side of my face kills me:( gotta see an ENT about that i guess.
thanks sooooooo much. Sorry for the length but I have so many variables, no one could give even an educated guess without knowing my spine problems also.
missy
p.s. my cousin has MS, is there any hereditary/genetic involvement
Anyone? any comments about my MRI regarding the situation? thanks so much. I realize I have alot of spine issues but my ortho is trying to r/o other things also due to symptoms.
All I can tell you from your MRI report is that you are too young to have scattered hyperintensities without an explanation as to how they got there. Your neuro appt. this week should begin to give you some answers.
The closer related you are to other MS patients the possibility for you to also have it increases. It is not an inherited disease, but definitely one that you are genetically predisposed to. A cousin with MS is not as close as a sibling or parent, but is still significant and should be on your medical recods.
