Baby, baby,...

Baby, baby,...

Hi all,

I have posted a number of questions now and have had some valuable response.  I waiting to see my neuro (this should be in the next 2-3 weeks) and absolutely petrified what she has to say.  When I saw her first time (the only time at the mo) I told her we would like to try for a baby.  She did not recommend until I have the results from all tests.  These may, may not be conclusive, who knows?
My partner I think is a bit reluctant as he does not know what the future will bring if I am diagnosed.  Something like ms is soooo not conclusive and symptoms and velocity tend to vary a lot.  It is not like you can take a course of antibiotics and it iwll be over.

I would like to know, if there is anyone currently undergoing tests and without any diagnosis trying for a baby? How does your partner feel about it? What is the reaction? Do you know what the specialists generaly recommend?

I realise the last question is a bit vague but I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

All for now, Take care.

I don't know if it is of any comfort to you, but hopefully this is.

I have been reading a lot about MS and pregnancy.  I just had a baby and, though I might never have another one (bad labor), I thought about it too.  I read that pregnancy actually helps alleviate symptoms of MS, and that a full-term pregnancy can increase the time it would take a woman to reach progressive disabling MS (better longer).

There is a post for an article on one of my posts "A Different Menstruel Problem".  Please read this article, it might make you and your partner feel better about a possible MS diagnosis, and give you something to discuss with the neuro.

Hi Janey!  I love that whatever I'm going through, there's others out there with a similar issue so I don't feel so alone.  My partner and I are in the predictament.  We're getting married in 15 days and we decided to start "informally" trying...however, less than a week into this, I get MRI results saying I have lesions on my brain and cervical.  Not sure what to do either, but I think for at least the next month, until I hopefully have more answers, we're going to hold off, and hope that week of "trying" didn't produce a baby.  :)  It's wierd how life works out!

Thank you Oncentri for the info,... I will have a look. I have not ben dignosed with anything as yet, currently vibrations I am experiencing are just annoying, I have no other symptoms as such.

Angela, firstly let me congratulate you on your forthcoming marriage.
What do the lesions actualy mean? I am so not up on all the terminology and definitions.
My gosh,  I am not on my own with such problems.  I spoke to a free helpline in the UK and they said majority of women (where ms is not too progressive) do have normal (well, as normal as it can be given suffering from any associated symptoms) and apparently for most vomen pregnancy alleviates many of the problems.

I married very young, nearly 2 years now and kind of regrett it we did not go for a baby earlier. I do not know what the fiture will bring, but I would hate to leave this world without having experienced motherhood.

Angela, keep us posted.  Are you experiencing any other symptoms? I would be pleased to hear frmo you.

Well, it is end of the working day here, sunny England (for a change)  and I m going to enjoy the sunshine.

Take care for now, all of you.

As far as other symptoms, I had an MRI done in February on my cervical, w/out contrast, and nothing like this showed up...just some minimal degenerative disc disease and disc bulges.  I mostly had left shoulder and neck pain on a daily basis.  I got cortisone shots at the end of April, and my symptoms seemed to get better, although I was still fatigued much of the time.  At the end of June, I went on vacation back to Illinois (where I'm from originally) and about 3 days into my trip, my first 3 fingers on my left hand started going tingling, and then went partially numb.  About 1-2 weeks later, my whole left arm did the same thing.  Obviously, at this point, I'm wondering what the **** is going on.  My dr did a nerve conduction study on July 16th, which came back normal.  However, my symptoms continued to increase...now, my neck and jawline were numb, my face was tingling and numb some mornings upon waking, I had a tingling feeling that went through my head at times, as well as down the back of my left leg.  I was getting more headaches (I already suffer from migraines, but these had decreased since moving out west).  When my dr saw that my face was going numb, that's when he called for the brain scan w/ contrast.  The brain scan showed up w/ 3 lesions, and now the scan on my cervical showed lesions.

HI Janey,

My husband and I were trying for children when all this started.  We spoke to the doctor about this, although if I am honest it would have to be the immaculate conception at the moment.  She advised me that I needed to get on top of my symptoms first but agreed it was something positive to aim for.  My only concern was if I needed more mri's and I was pregnant..what would happen.

Hope you have a great wedding....!  So exciting.

Have fun

Em
