Back to consultant tomorrow any advise??

uk2
Hi All

Go back tomorrow to my old consultant he discharged me back in 2007 when he could not find a reason for my condition as i had next sx vertigo and more weakness in my legs my GP sent me back he reluctantly redid the MRI of the brain and neck but refused to do contrast or a MS protocol on it, he says i have a pain condition that could be in my head!! i went to see another team in a different hospital which was ment to be my second opinion but little did i know the NHS consultant knew my consultant well and had read the notes and talked to him before hand and had made his mind up before i got there!! He said they would do no more treatment as they felt the consultant was handling it well and would write to him about this appointment and the suggestion i had a pain condition and a pain clinic would be good, even though i had been to a local pain clinic and the dr said there this is a neuro issue and you have taken most of the drugs we suggest also at the time inpoint pain is not the main thing it is numbness and weakness of limb muscle left worse then right and on and off vertigo which the ent said was neuro based as well but the consultant laughed about that.

I am going on my own tomorrow due to me mixing the appointments up and no one being able to come with me that will be fun in itself as will have to walk with my sticks!

i have a numb patch which i posted about the size of a dinner plate painful around the edge but cant feel anything in the middle on my hip/buttock will this show on the brain MRI? or would that be shown in a lumber MRI? i did have bulging disks at C2 and L4/5 and S1 but with only a little narrowing do you think over 2 yrs with little exercise due to whatever this illness is has caused them to get worse?? if so how do i convience him i need a lumber MRI as he is about to kick me to the curb!

I do have another refered letter as my GP was disgusted with the way they never treated me as a 2nd opinion but this time she feels we need to move away from general neurology onto neuromuscular and am going to queens square in london a very high regarderd hospital in its field. But if this neuro cant find anything what makes me think they will maybe i am losing it and it is all in my head???

Sam

Hi Sam,

I think it would be good to go to the pain doc because you need some relief and maybe this Dr. will find the right combo for you. Can you bring someone w/you to this one, Sam?

When you go tomorrow?
