Back to see neuro today

Today is the first day I will see the neuro after leaving the hospital and him diagnosing me with ms.

I have to admit that I am a little nervous that I will get there and he I'll say he changed his mind.

Is that normal?  Anyway, in the the hospital he said he was gong to start me on copaxone after a few weeks and that would be now.  So I am looking forward to starting my treatment to delay this disease.

I am also anxious to see my most recent MRI report.  They did it with and without contrast.  I never actually saw the report and i am curious to see if there were new lesions since when they took it I was right the midst of a whopper of a flare.

I also think that I have more permanent damage this time.  But only time will tell.

We'll see how it goes and I'll keep you all posted.

Sorry for my absence.  I haven't been gone, just quiet.

Thanks.
Kerri

Hi Kerri

Just to wish you luck with your neuro appointment and I hope that you are able to sort out the treatment.  Just to say that my understanding is that the course of MS is outside all of our control but that the interferon treatement can help to delay the number of relapses we may have. Of course once treatment is started we have no idea of how many relapses we may have in the future and all we have to go on is the number we have had in the past. Does this make sense?

Anyhow let us know how it goes and I shall keep my fingers crossed that the Copazone is sorted out.

best wishes

Sarah

Hi there.  Good luck at your Neuro's visit, but as you stated in prior posts you said that the Neuro said he was "95% sure it is MS".  I wouldn't be worrying about him retracting his diagnosis.

In addition to that, you also said during your stay in the hospital, " Besides that " he  looked at my 3T brain MRI and said one scar, two, scar, three scar = MS. " Is that not the conclusion of your MRI basically? Did he mention that you had an increased amount of lesions? Were they enhancing?  I'd be interested in what it says too.

I'm curious to know what your LP results are!

Again, good luck....

Good luck today, Ker.

Such a difficult disease to dx - understandable the doc doing all the hard work to make certain :)
Let us know how you make out.

Back from neuro.

He didnt mention my MRI at all.

He said that he wasn't positive I had ms but he thinks I do and that was a judgement call.  I said...I'll take it!

CSF was negative.

He prescribed the copaxone.
It should take a couple of weeks to receive and then I have to into office for injection training.

He also prescribed weight watchers and water aerobics.  I am at least 40 pounds overweight.  I had gestational diabetes with two of my four pregnancies and really have to be aware of getting type two since I am at a higher risk.

So, after my appt, I went to the YMCA and asked doubt water aerobics.  They actually have a class for people with ms.

After that I went and signed up for weight watchers.
No more playing around for me.

So that's it for now.  It's not good that ihave ms but I am glad he saw what I saw.

Thanks for all of the support.

It is amazing he went from "95%" sure that you had MS to he "thinks" I do....wow what a big change!

Im surprised you did  not even ask about your MRI and the explanation of your scarring! Or even enhancement of your multitude of lesions!  Boy if I were you, I'd get that report and CD!  I'm surprised he didn't even mention your MRI?!?! Don't you think that's weird?

Glad you're going to aerobics and weight watchers!  Good for you!

I am sure he is comfortable enough with his decisn that he prescribed the copaxone.

He only confirmed what I already know.

I have a copy of the report and plan on picking up the cd for my records.
