Oh yea, blood pressure. As soon as the swelling started, I started watching bp. It is usually 110-117/ 64-75. It varies.... Lately it has been 99/67 or so. Yesterday at the doc it registered 114/79. The bottom number is high for me, but overall, it is normal.
I am on Betaseron. I do it right before bed. I have been at full dose for 2.5 wks. After each titration, I flet all of my muscles aching for about 2 days. After the 75% dose, I was aching for 1.5 wks. Just as I began to feel better, I went to the full dose. This pst Sunday was the beginning of the full dose. I have athletic legs, and the muscles in the lower legs ae aching like I ran too far. My lower back is killing me.
I know that the lower part of the back is not suposed to be the kidnes. But, it does hurt form time to time up, just under the edge of the ribcage. After exercise (just walking around the block, or a day at the gym) I flush and swell. I was doing it at the Dr.s office yesterday. He said I can't say that I can see you are swollen. I can see the tendons in the back of your hands, nad I am not leaving indentions in your arm. UGG! When lilly white looks sunburnt and you can leave white finger marks...I am swollen. My neck and upper chest is doing it too. The swelling started when I was taking the Solumedrol around Valentines day. That was also the day before I went to 50% dose of Betaseron. I thought that the swelling wes all from the steroids. I used potassium. It really did help. The steroids were 5 weeks ago. That still can't be causing this much swelling. My facei s back to normal as well as my legs for the most part. The realliny irritating thig is my neck. When it wtarts there, i feel like someone has their hands on the arteries in my neck; not sqeezing too hard, but enough to make me feel strangled.
I am suposed to have a barium swallow test on thursday. My ENT ordered that. I could ask him to order a CBC that day.....
To Opie,
I agree with Quixotic1, you should get a kidney check. The blood work is simple and you can get answers fairly quickly. I am scheduled for that urodynamic study in about 2 weeks. I will let you know how that goes and whether or not it was worth it.
I wake up everyday feeling like I have been run over by a truck. That is (unfortunately) one of my favorite sayings. I believe it is due to my CFS. I know how depressing it can be! Hang in there, just go with it on those days and start again the next day. Good luck!
Just being the worried doc here. Is your blood pressure okay? When you talk about blood in the urine and swelling, I worry about renal failure. Has anyone checked your kidney function? This would be done with a routine chem panel and is reflected in the BUN and creatinine. If this hasn't been done since you have had the symptoms - GET IT DONE TOMORROW! I know they have likely checked it, but I just want to be sure.

oh, one other thought - how about a urologist instead of a gynecologist... the pieces and parts are located in the same area but it is a different specialty. There is such a thing as a combined urologist/gynecologist - which some of us are fortunate to have, but you may need to see a straight urologist for this one.
Hi Opie,
Sorry you are on the blue side today. I forget which DMD you are on - jog my memory please. If your DMD is making you feel bad, please talk to us about the one you are using, how you are doing your injections and timing.
There is enough experience around here that perhaps someone will have some tips or new technique that will help you to feel better. That runover feeling can be managed a bit with time and patience and I'm glad to read that you don't plan on giving up on the DMD. you're right- quitting is not an option.
Don't give up on controlling your bladder either - whatever it takes - exercises, medicine or other treatments - it is worth being untethered from the call of the bathroom.
as always,
Lulu
ok, I am over being depressed, still frustraited! oh well..............
Ess,
I just read it. I had forgotten all aobut Dr. Keigla. I had a terrible time relaing to go after the first baby. We thought it was trauma from the delivery. Now I am oversensative to any urine in the ole bladder.
I am just tired of feeling bad. I was doing much better before I started the DMD. I know that I must do what I must do, but do I need to feel like I was run over by a semi every day?
Thaks for letting me rant. I usually don't stay upset too long.
Oh, but there are techniques that help, believe me. I don't know your insurance situation, but if you can at all afford it, I urge you to pursue a solution. Have you been reading Quix's Sandbox thread? Help is out there!
ess
nope. If they can't cure the problem, why spend the money? It was my first visit today anyway
have you had any urodynamic testing?
