I am closer to a dx after many many years and a few days ago there was a post on low body temps. I know everyone is different but so many of us said yes we run low temps.
So my question is; is there a corralation in blood pressure and MS?
I normally run super low or great BP 116/60 and that is at the doctors office (no white coat syndrome for me)
BUT I get really high blood pressure at times and it turns out a new "flair" of some sort happens, used to be migraines, maybe it's my pain but numbness, and list of strange stuff won't bore you.
Is there any realtion in BP and MS? I am on a BP medication have been now for 4 years since they put the question mark on my chart for MS.
I have not done much research on MS, I just read what you all say much better then the other sites out there!
Does high blood pressure run in your family? If it does, then that is why you're developing it, more than likely.
In my case, there was no family history--which I always found very odd. I started having high blood pressure at the time I had thyroid issues. Hypothyroidism sometimes will cause high blood pressure. I'm not sure of the connection, but it does. It also causes the low body temperatures that you mentioned. There were some pain problems that I also had, that disappeared when I started treatment for the thyroid issue.
The high blood pressure thing, however, has never disappeared. I don't always have the problem, but it will nearly always spike to very high points when I'm in lots of pain or have a migraine attack. I once was sent to the hospital in an ambulance because this happened when I was experiencing a very bad migraine attack (bottom number was 122).
I understand if you have one autoimmune disease, then the likelyhood of having another one is significantly raised. I think that is my case because the thyroid issue was autoimmune. Once you find out if you have MS for sure, I'd ask about the possibility of having another autoimmune problem going on at the same time. You may not, because I'm nearly sure you've been blood tested to rule this out, but your symptoms sound all too familiar! By the way, it was the TSH test that showed a very high number of 40 (normal is up to 5).
I have never heard of blood pressure being associated with MS but that does not mean there could not be issues I guess. Are you saying that normally your blood pressure is low and only goes high when you are in a flare up? I find this interesting because I have the same problem and did not think of it coinciding with MS flare ups, but it does. It could be nothing to do with MS at all but it is strange to have good blood pressure at all other times. Again one of those interesting things with no answers.
Back in December, I had a hideous vertigo spell that had me at the walk-in clinic. I have a bp cuff at home and thought my bp was down and causing my vertigo. (My Dad has low bp and a pacemaker for bradycardia, I thought something similar was happening to me.)
Surprisingly, it was up. WAY up for me! I usually am 96/?? or 100/60, something like that. But on this day, it was 119/?? at check-in, then 127/72 with another person....needless to say, it was going up. The nurse said it was normal, but I said no, it's high for me!!
Then they tested the lying down (118/70) and sitting up (110/72) and that is okayish, but I'm usually lower. Those lower numbers were at the end of my appt., and the vertigo was ending, it was only about 3 hours long.
Well, on that very day, the APRN tested my reflexes and said they were hyper, along with +Babinski's, and to go see a neurologist to rule out MS or fibromyalgia. And that's how I arrived here, on the path towards figuring out if I have MS.
Ya I don't have a family history of BP, and always had very low very they would laugh sometimes and say are you breathing!
It only went up when something strange was up, migraine for sure but now during this flair and others. and yes I think I also have another immune issue, maybe Fibro ( my RA tests are normal during this spell but have had very high SED rates in the past)
I did all the special thyroid tests in 03 when I had speech, and vision issues and it was all normal.
Just curious, I guess we are all differant anyway, and not everything can be MS I am sure pain makes BP high but I had a low pain day compared to the weeks before.
Oh the whole thing is confusing and now after the doc did not confirm but implied MS the other day my emotions are all over the board, Like he said I did but needed more tests, now I question what he said, um denial, second guessing what I heard hoping he was wrong and scared the tests will be negative scared they will be positive even though my logical brain knows I have it............
sorry off track, my emotions are all over the place.
I really don't know if it is related, but all of my problems started after the birth of my third son, I was 33. I had a tubal one month after his birth. Right after this my blood pressure elevated and stayed that way. It was about 130/90. I do have a family history of high BP, but mine had always been so low before. Usually 110/60. I didn't go to the doctor for it until I started having blurred vision and headaches in the back of my head and neck from it. Two years later They put me on a low dose of Altace2.5 mg, at this time my BP was 140/100. Since I have been on the medicine for it it has stabalized and now runs 115/70.
The interesting thing is that after this change I have had one wierd symptom after another. Night sweats, irregular cycles, head aches that seemed to come on a couple days before my cylcle that were behind my eyes, skin pigment changes on my face and arms, and these small red bumps that were sore and filled with clear liquid that came up on my fingers, forearms or lower stomache at the same time as the headache about 2 days before my cycle. This went on for about 4 years and then the onset of this neurological disfunction( attack) happened. I also had a medication change six weeks before the attack.
I haven't been normal since the birth of my son and blood pressure problems was the first thing that surfaced. How do I figure out if any of this stuff is related?? Any Ideas?
