Had anyone here in medical marjuana states tried the high CBD sprays/strains etc for nerve pain, reducing nerve inflammation and neuroprotection?
I am having trouble with pain and was prescribed gabapentin. It offers noticeable relief and I seem to be Ok on it for a day but I can't seem to take it more than one day in a row without getting sadness/depression/anxiety/difficulty concentrating. By the third day I found myself in tears for no reason. Stopped taking it and was better the next day. My mood is generally good so I am sure it was the med.
My neuro suggested nortryptiline as an alternative, but I'm not sure if I can take that sporadically as needed or if I need to take it all the time.
My pain is not constant but sometimes it gets bad making it hard to walk and preventing me from working out.
I'd like to find a solution that is effective, works quickly, yet doesn't require me to be on constant medication when I don't need it all the time. Also something that doesn't make me sleepy during the day, and allows me to maintain full mental functionality to work effectively, take care of my daughter, doesn't impair ability to drive etc. I am not averse to the effects of strains with THC and can work fine on them, but if I need to drive obviously anything that could impair is a bad idea.
I have been reading about CBD being non-psychoactive with no side effects, actually countering the psychoactive effects of THC, and offering neuropathic pain relief, and also read some studies that show promising neuroprotective effects in MS-like diseases.
I am thinking about getting a med card and trying it (I have looked and CBD sprays are available at dispensaries in my city), but before I go through the bother and expense was wondering if anyone here has experience or success/lack of success with it.
The idea of something that is neuroprotective and may prevent future neurological damage is also very appealing.
Thanks!
