Can somebody please answer....

Can somebody please answer....

So I was just wondering if somebody could please answer the ringing in my ears!!!!  It is very loud and annoying.  I thought that it originally had something to do with the plugged ear that I had but I got that taken care of today and the ringing is still there.  So if somebody has the connection to my ear can you please answer it so it'll stop!:):):)

Thanks and just annoyed with it.  Don't know if it has anything to do with MS but thought that I would complain about it to someone other than my husband!  Hope all is well with everyone!

Have a good night!
Debra

Hello? Who is it?

Just kidding.

I think ear problems can be neurological.  Hopefully you can ask your doctor about it?

YIKES!

Wish I could disconnect your receiver! LOL

Believe they call it Tinnitus.  Is it chronic? Or, does it come and go.  Not that I have some grant solution for it - LOL........ Just wanting to know how long it's been going on.  Did they clean it out thinking it was coming from built up?

I'd call them back then.  Maybe they can check for infection or something besides build up.

Sorry, must be horrible.

Hey thanks for answering but the connection must be bad because it is still ringing!!!!LOL

It comes and goes and I will be sure to mention it to my new neuro when I see him on the 7th.

They did clean it out and boy oh boy did karma come back to kick me in the behind!  That's what I get for always telling my husband to clean his ears out cause he can't hear me.  At least now I know he is just ignoring me!! LOL  I go back to the dr Wed so I will mention this than and see what she has to say.

Thanks again!

I was just googling ringing in the ears.  I've had ringing in the ears years before my MS diagnosis.  As of this year, my tinnitus worsens when when I gaze either left or right.

I'm thinking I have something called gaze-evoked tinnitus and is thought to be neurological.

Anyway, to answer your question, yes, ringing in the ears can be neurological and related to MS.  I am looking into seeing a neuro-opthamologist as after my googling I found on the Medhelp eye forum a post about this problem and it was recommended to see a neuro-opthamologist.

It was stated that you can find one in your area at www.aao.org
Once you get to the page, look to the right in the green box.

I'm curious, why would a neuro-opthamologist be the appropriate specialist for an ear problem?

I'm seeing a neuor-optha. for the 1st time this Thursday.  I'm undiagnosed, but have a lot of symptoms.  I'm seeing him due to mild pain and flashing (at least 1.5 months) and mild double vision (~3 weeks).  I saw an opthamologist already who could not explain these things.

I don't have constant ringing, but I've had ear pain for probably about 6 weeks.  (I have been in an episode of symptoms for about 3 months, some symptoms have vanished during that time, while others appeared).  The intensity of the pain varies day to day, and I do get occasional ringing, but usually only for a few moments.  I've had my PCP look at my ears 2x since this started, to make sure there is no infection.  She can't explain the pain, which is in both ears but worse on the left (much like the eye problems, in both eyes, worse on left).  So you got my attention!  I get shy to mention all of my symptoms sometimes since I "look fine" (though I wake up every day in this Twilight Zone...)

So, I'll be sure to mention my ear problems, and am glad I read this here, but again, I'm just wondering why a neuro-optha may be the best specailist for ear problems?  I thought I'd have to eventually break down and see an ENT, something I'd been putting off since I don't think my hearing is worse, just a bother to have the pain.

Sorry for the long-winded descrption of my ears, and thanks again for the tip to mention this to the neuro-optha!

Wonko- I made a mistake in advice for Debra.  I was crossing-over what I was experiencing with what she stated and read something in to it that wasn't there because I was researching the gazed-evoked tinnitus at the very same time I read her post.  A neuro-opthamologist wouldn't be the best person to see, unless you were experience the ringing in the ears made worse by moving your eyes!  I was having a brain-fart, I guess!

However, I'd mention the ear pain to your neuro-opthamologist.  You never know--maybe it's related.  There's all sorts of nerves that can affected by MS and cause pain--maybe in the ears.  Best wishes at your appointment--I hope you get answers!

Debra- I don't think seeing a neuro-opthamologist is the person to see.  I'd mention the ringing of your ears to your neurologist.  Yes, it can be neurological!

Hey thanks for clarifying that for us.  I see my PCP Wed so I will mention it to her and if she finds nothing then I will mention it to my neuro when I see him on July 7th.

Thanks for the tips though!!
