Can't have a 3T MRI?

I was scheduled for my 2nd MRI, tomorrow. When they called to do my pre-registration I asked about the strength of the MRI machine they will be using, I was told the highest I can go is a 1.5t because of my permanent retainer. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm afraid that if I only have small lesions or an inflamed spinal cord it may not show up and the neuro will just blow me off because he cant see a reason for my symptoms. I'm thinking about having it removed, but I don't want to waste the money I spent on fixing my teeth. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Again, thanks for reading!

A bunch of horse hockie, if you ask me - I have a permanent retainer, and I've gone through numerous MRIs, all of them 3T.  Don't let them tell you anything different!

I've read that the 3T doesn't allow many of the things the 1.5T MRIs allows - like permanent retainers.

If that really is the case, then I can't have one either. And I really wanted to get my next spinal one on a 3T MRI.

Hopefully someone else on here knows. I guess if they're not letting you do it, then it must be true.  ???
