Hi Sally...I have been on Tegretol since about 1993, initially for Grand Mal seizures, which I have not had one for about 12 years. Since February my neuro has increased my Tegretol from 400mg/day to 1200mg/day which I am on now. The neuro's nurse keeps telling me that the Tegretol can be increased quite a bit more if my throbbing pain in my legs gets worse. I am also on 1600mg/day of Neurontin. I have been diagnosed with Paratrigeminal Neuralgia which causes ice pick type pain in my right temple and the left side of my face to droop. I have been having pain in my temples and my left eye is drooping constantly even though I am on these drugs and the Neuro says that he will not increase the Neurontin. In the last few days I have been experiencing severe burning pain in the heels of my feet especially if I have to wear shoes. Now if I have been on Tegretol for such a long time and now at such a high dose, I would think that the burning pain in my heels would not occur wouldn't you? You can take this wherever you want...just some information on my history with Tegretol...it stopped the seizures but...???
