She seems kind of flaky --- anyone see her on the View apparently accusing Whoopi Goldberg of hitting her when she only touched her arm?  That was odd.

Anyway with the popularity of reality TV - and I'll admit, it is my guilty pleasure - I suppose anything that draws some attention to MS can be useful.  She's a good example of someone who has this incurable and progressive disease and yet you'd never know by looking at her.

Then again, the more simple-minded folks out there might surmise:
Michaele Salahi is flaky.  Michaele Salahi has MS.  Ergo, People with MS are flaky.

Hopefully most people are smarter than that.  Sadly there are those who most definitely are not.

The MS cause could really use a high profile mainstream celebrity who is really active and visible in supporting research and raising awareness and $.  There's Montel Williams, Teri Garr, and a few others, but not someone of the calibre of say, Michael J. Fox, as an advocate for Parkinson's.

I admit- I do watch The Real Housewives of DC..I am a reality show junkie..This woman comes off as very phony on the show. My husband told me this morning about her announcement that she has had MS for 17 years.

My initial reaction is to not believe her. She has been asked if she has Anorexia and now she is blaming her extreme thinness to having MS. Many people spoke up on the Washington Post questioning this.

I have never heard that MS causes weightloss. I agree that the meds can decrease hunger and depression definately can cause a person to lose weight, but this seems a bit far fetched.

She rides equestrian horses, has performed as a professional cheerleader during halftime for an NFL team. I could be wrong, but 17 years of having this, I would be completely surprised a person could go this amount of time without showing some physical signs.

I agree that MS needs more attention brought to it..having a famous person say she has it could help there be more testing and money donated. I hope that she wasn't using this disease as yet another way to get attention..like the inauguration...

It would be nice if it did cause weight loss.  The only benefit, if it were true.

I do not know if it is true but there are people with MS who have a very slow progression.

There are those who remain active. There is Wendy Booker who ran two Boston Marathon's and climbed to the top of every tallest mountain on every continent except she tried but did not make it to the top of Eversest. She did this all after diagnosis.

I know many folks with MS who are underweight because of the disease.
