Charlie horse in calf at night

I was wondering what this would be called and wondering if thishappens to anyone else...

At night while I am sleeping, I will wake up because my left leg keeps getting a "charlie horse" in the calf.  I apologize for the "charlie horse" name that I  am calling it.  That's what we call them.

It is happening more and more so I was wondering if this happens to anyone else?  Does anyone know what it is called when your muscle tightens up and hurts like really bad for about 2 min or so?

This I think happens to everyone, not just the MS people like me.  It just seems to happen more and at weird times.  Like when I am sleeping.

Thanks for advice or comments about this!!!

Kelli

Some folks have to take Baclofen and Zanaflex.  They are both antispasmodics, but have different methods of action.

Alex,

Baclofen does nothing for me as well.  I take zanaflex at night for the nightly "charlie horses" I have.  Helps SO SO much,

"Things that go ouch in the night."  Look in the health pages or search the forum for spasticity.

Many of us have issues with this and rely on Baclofen.
