Cold Sores

I finally have my appointment for the 4th December.  My doctor managed to get me into the best neurologist in Australia who specialises in MS.
My query is, since my last major flare up of symptoms where my doctors got suspicious about me having MS, I am constantly breaking out in cold sores.  Is this part of MS or have I some other lying issue going on here.  I have only just got 3 of them cleared up and now last night another one has broken out.  My lips are constantly sore, and I am using the best cold sore cream that you can get, very expensive I might add too.
Hope someone can help me with this one
Cheers all

Not a doctor, but I do have MS.  From what I understand cold sores are caused by a virus and thus is not a sign of MS or caused by MS.  MS is a disease of the central nervous system and causes nuerological problems.

Thanks for your comments.  I just find it strange or coincidental that these flare ups of cold sores seem to happen after flare ups of MS symptoms, perhaps I am strange hahahah.  Anyway, thanks again.

I have an odd type of cold sores; I get them on the side of my face!  Cold sores are caused by a virus, and a virus has been known to bring on a  flare of MS symptoms.

I have noticed flares of symptoms after outbreaks of my virus on at least two occasions.

Maybe your cold sore virus was kicking up before the cold sores showed up, and brought on the flare, or maybe it's something totally different.

I'm not diagnosed with MS, but I have noticed flares of neurological symptoms after having an active virus.

All right, bring on someone with more knowledge....

be well,

Kathy

I'm not yet Dx...but have been on this forum for awhile...I don't recall people talking that much about cold sores and MS...maybe I'm wrong though..hehehe

maybe it's a sign of inflammation??

I'm sure others will pop in with ideas...

take care
