Complaining... Fatigue is terrible

I guess I just need to complain for a moment.  Over the past week I've had terrible fatigue.  My legs are heavy and my left one is weaker than usual.  My brain won't work -- I can't even read the newspaper (I keep stopping half-way through the articles).  My words keep getting reversed (the kids think it's funny) and I just can't *focus*.  I know a lot of these things can be directly attributed to the fatigue, but I can't seem to get rid of the fatigue.

I'd love to stay in bed all day, but it's not an option and besides, I know I always feel better when I get up and move.  I've been trying to include a bit more light exercise, but it just seems to make my fatigue worse.

I guess it's time for more coffee.  :)

I find doctors tend to brush off fatigue, too.  When I was pregnant with my second child, I kept saying I was much more fatigued than the first time (and I was pretty darned tired then!)  Everyone said it was just because I already had  a toddler.  It turned out I was severely anemic.  I felt much better after taking massive doses of iron!

This is different than anemia fatigue, but I fear the doctor will brush it off.  I guess we'll see.

Hi there, I also can totally relate.   My fatigue is really bad during a flare and is usually the first sign.  I have fatigue every day but for me  it does get better in remission.

It is the main reason I had to give up work.  It drives me crazy too DJ.

I some times think the DR doesnt care about stuff like fatigue but really it can be more dissabiling than some other symptoms. It certainly changed my life!!  Naps are a big part of my life.

Hope you can get some relief with meds Steph.  Sending warm hugs!

Hi Sweetie, I sure do relate to the heavy Fatigue. It drives me Crazy. I have so much I want to do, but to move takes so much effort it is easier to just stay on the recliner.  Not much of a life is it.

I see that you were told about some Meds that might help. I am going to check into them myself. hey, if it Might help it is sure worth a try.

You hang in there, we are all here for you and really understand how you feel.

Sending you special Hugs {{{{~!~}}}} on the breezes... along with my Love...DJ

I took the quiz--interesting.  I scored a 5.2 overall, but some of the questions I wasn't sure about.  I think my motivation isn't lower, I just find it more difficult to get anything done.  I *want* to do it, but I *need* a nap...!

I should call my dr's office, but last time I called I felt a bit brushed off by the nurse.  She said the dr. didn't need to see me.

Thanks for sympathizing.  I wish I could make this go away...

Steph,

I would get provigil or nuvigil for your fatigue, it makes so much difference.  I do understand, I hate fatigue..mine seems to be somewhat better, but if I miss a dose I can certainly tell the difference, which I have only done a couple times. The fatigue never leaves but the meds help so much.

No need to suffer....and the provigil in the beginning cleared up my mind too, it was a little sharper.

hugs, meg

Check this out--

I'd say my fatigue level is a 6 or 7 in all of these.

Try to get a script to help with fatigue. Amantadine is often prescribed first. It helps a lot of people, but not me--at all.

As I've reported in another thread, I'm now about to try Provigil. I really need to get a life!

Nuvigil is another possibility, but I don't know much about it.

Good luck,

I so agree with you. I was just searching MS fatigue.....and it is common in 80% of MS'ers in or out of remission.

Here are a couple of sites I was reading:
http://www.mult-sclerosis.org/fatigue.html
http://www.webmd.com/multiple-sclerosis/guide/ms-related-fatigue

I wake up tired and ready for a nap by 10AM....it is not fun!
You are not alone.
