Well I finally got my cooling vest from the VA. Actually it is a cooling vest, wrist wraps, and neck wrap with 2 sets of cooling packs for each of them. These are the frozen water type and had been hoping they would have been the phase change type instead.
The first thing I noticed was just how heavy the vest is with all of the packs inserted. In fact once I had all of the packs in I tried to put in on and almost fell over backward from the swinging of the weight. So I guess from now on I'll have to put it on while sitting down.
The next thing I noticed was that even though the packs were not frozen yet I could feel the cooling effect of the vest. It is 79 outside today and I could tell the difference right away when I went outside for a few minutes.
Since I have my disability appeal hearing tomorrow I can't try the big test until Saturday. I am planning to try doing some exercising with the vest on then. I haven't been able to exercise for a long time because of my intolerance to heat.
