Current Copaxone Users?

Hi, Is anyone else having problems getting their Copaxone injections thru their insurance company?

Typically, I call mine to re-order then they call me the next day to schedule it for overnight delivery.  It's been over 2 wks since I ordered mine so I called to check on it.  The rep at Cigna say the price has increase dramatically so they're either not for sure if they'll pay now or they're in talks with the Copaxone people.

Are they giving me the run around or what?  I have the same coverage now as before, although, now it's called Great West Health Cigna. And I have the same benefits coverage and everything that I always have had.

Thanks!
Kelly

Did you quit copaxone recently?  What are you using now?

Hi L, Do you mean that you insurance wasn't covering your Copaxone, or they just paid a reduced price from the $4500?

I compare it to the gas / oil companies. They keep jacking up the price of gas and at the same time, they're posting record profits, while the rest of us suffer.

They reported that Teva's 4th quarter net revenues increased 28% to $5.7 BILLION.  It is shameful.

The price on copaxone was climbing during the time I was on it but  I am still shocked at this new sticker price.  When I quit copaxone it was up to something like $4,500 which of course my insurance didn't pay.  It was $2,800 when I started copaxone in 2008.

Shame on TEVA for taking this kind of profit on a drug they have long since recouped their researches expenses on through world=wide sales.

I hope your insurance company works through this quickly.

Ack!  I've been on Betaseron for the last year, but before that I was on Copaxone.  There's a financial aid program for both - maybe you'll qualify!

Well, I may have just answered my own question. I just did a search and read an article that says that Copaxone increased their price by 15% at the start of 2012.  That might be an increase of about $7000 or more a year that the insurance has to pay on top of what they already pay.
