Decoding the MRI--Quix?

Decoding the MRI--Quix?

Here is what my brain MRI results are:  I'm unsure what the final line means...what does the cyst or polyp mean?  Is that dangerous?  And should I be satisfied with these results from a T1.5 or should I push for a T3?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Multiplanar, multisequence MRI scan of the brain was performed including images after an IV injection of 15cc Omniscan.

There are no brain parenchymal mass lesions, extra-axial fluid collections, hydrocephalus, shift of structures, or abnormal areas of contrast enhancement.

There are no identifiable areas of acute infarction on diffusion-weighted imaging.

There is mucus retention cyst or polyp at the inferior aspect of the left maxillary sinus.

IMPRESSION:  No focal brain parenchymal abnormalities are identified.  No mass lesions are detected.

The "mucus retention cyst or polyp at the inferior aspect of the left maxillary sinus" means, a cyst or polyp in your sinus cavity.  As far as it's nature of being harmful in any way, I cannot help you.  This needs to be discussed with your doctor.

Maybe Quix will sign on and be able to answer this more clearly for you.

Best Wishes, Heather

Reads like a pretty clear MRI (no lesions detected).  If you have sinus pain, now you know why!!
