Discount coupon

Hi  I am new to MS.  My doctor prescribed Avonex.  I have little to no drug insurance.  I went to a site which offered discount coupons.  I called them to ask them if this is a come on price or is this within reason the price every month.  They would not give me an ansewr.  Does someone here have any experience with this?

I went to the site and looked at it briefly, it struck me as a legit organization. From their site:

“NeedyMeds is a 501(c)(3) non-profit information resource devoted to helping people in need find assistance programs to help them afford their medications and costs related to health care.”

Naturally, someone who answers the phone at NeedyMeds is not going to know the details about every medication and every assistance program, they can just point you to them. NeedyMeds doesn’t sell the drugs. The website’s information about Avonex provides the phone number I mentioned earlier, 800-456-2255, and the folks at that number will be of great help to you.

When I clicked on the “coupon” for Avonex it simply routed me to the Avonex website, where they offer the first month of treatment for free, as they’ve done for a while. Don’t know how that program works, but I think you’re just best off for now calling Avonex and exploring your options.

I didn’t see the bit about how vials are priced lower. (I presume vials is the medicine you mix yourself.) You need to choose whichever version will be easier for you to keep compliant with, and Avonex will probably help you in any case.

Hi

The site is www.needymeds.com.  I don't think they got the gist of my question.  I wanted to know if this was an introductory rate.  I was concerned with starting there andthen getting socked the following month.  The person kept on saying that the price may vary by month.  I think they were reading a canned script and were not equiped to andle my specific question.  I called one of the companies on the list and think it is the every month price with some small floucuations.

You will notice that they sel Avonex via pens, syringles and vials.  Vials are significantly lower.  Is there any reason why I wouldn't go with vials?  I can give myself an injection if I have to going this route.

Biogen, the makers of Avonex, offers financial aid for those who cannot afford the drug. Call them at 800-456-2255. The other DMD drug makers offer aid as well.

So a site with discount coupons shouldn't even be necessary for a DMD, and I would be wary of it for anything else. I'm curious what the site is, and why they wouldn't answer your questions.
