Dishes

You're all probably wondering what the heck I'm referring to when I start a topic named "dishes".  Well, in one of my posts in response to someone, I stated I dealt with left ventral (palmer -- including fingers and arm paresthesias) which makes it almost intolerable to touch anything.

Well, I have a stack of dishes in the sink this morning, caused by no one other than my significant other. He was well aware last night I had issues with my left hand/arm.  I woke up this morning still looking at the sink full of dishes.

I left them there.  Why? Because it hurts to touch things and I need two hands to do them.  (let alone shower ie: touching my hair).

Thoughts?

LuLu,

That is exactly what I did but with Lidoderm patches (my primary doctor ordered them for me after asking for it) and not that it took any pain away from the distal part of my arm, I slapped the entire square on my palm/fingers and I could touch things ie: sit down placing my hand on the seat for balance before I plopped down or lightly brush things without having that crawling, burning pins/needles sensation.

Amazing what your nervous system does huh?

lol LuLu.

Thanks Alex for the insight. You're right, indeed they will get done...eventually.

He did do them and then helped me wash my hair and rinse.  I have a shower chair and it is fantastic!

I had issues yesterday where I felt like a I had a blood pressure cuff around my bicep/tricep area and it was a vice-like grip, in addition to the hand sensitivity and pain (on the palm side and fingers).  It was so bad, I almost went to the ER and was thinking of begging them to inject my arm with Lidocaine. LOL.  But, it waxed and waned which made me wait.

I did call the Neurologist and he wants to see me today at noon. So off to the shower.  It's doing pretty good today (thank goodness).  I wonder if I should still go if its almost resolved? This is an intermittent thing and when it does happen it lasts a few days then goes away.

Thanks all for your input and support!

There is a woman who comes to our MS swim group and her MS manifests itself through her hands.  The only problems she really experiences is pain when she touches things ...

Her solution is to wear gloves, all the time.  even in the swimming pool she will have on plastic/rubber disposable gloves.  It looks goofy, as she says, but it stops the pain.

I would give that a try and see if it creates a barrier for the pain, but I would also still leavbe the dishes for him to do.  If you run out of dishes buy yourself a package of paper plates.

hugs, Laura

I would just leave them. They will get cleaned or not. I would not fuss about them. Since I got Cancer I can't do as much. I do not live to the same standards as I once did. My husband works and takes care of me, I do not put extra pressure on him if I can help it. I do what I can when I can. I let him do what he can when he can.

Alex
