Dizziness & vertigo

Could anyone tell me, is dizziness considered the same thing as vertigo? I have such heavy bouts of dizziness that come and go. I dont' know if it is from this blood pressure thing or other.
Many times I feel like I will pass out, but don't.

Quix is an expert on this, from her own experience. I'm sure she'll jump in here.

But preliminarily, I'd say that dizziness isn't really a medical term. To doctors it generally means light-headedness and doesn't involve a sense of movement of yourself or your surroundings. People are said to feel dizzy before they faint, for instance.

True vertigo does center on some movement feeling, although there are many descriptions of this, some contradictory, that you can find by Googling it. It usually results from an ear problem, our sense of balance being largely determined by ear function.

Vertigo can be caused by peripheral nerves, in which case it definitely is not a central nervous system disorder and thus not MS. It also can be caused by Cthe brain, which then can be MS.
Try wemove.org for lots of info on these.

Quix is bound to ask you for a more detailed description of the sensations you are having, so you might want to think about this.
