Don't know for sure yet but...........

I have not yet been diagnosed for sure but something is definitely happening to me.
Christmas 2006 - had lots of pain in my feet legs and arms it was painful to move bringing me to teers. When the pain finally subsided just over a month later I was left with numbness in my feet and highly sensitive to the tiniest bump. DIAGNOSIS neuropathy due to diabetes, which I refuse to believe because MY BLOOD SUGARS WERE UNDER CONTROL AT THE TIME and still are. At the end of Aug./07 I sarted having seizures where tlhe right side of my body would go stiff and twisted including my face and slurred speech during the seizure. Altogether I had approximately 15 seizures lasting only seconds at a time for about a week. I would try to stop them but it was like my body  would not listen to my brain.Aliong with the seizures came pain in my soulders or muscles like I had been lifting weights or did something very strenuous. I still have this pain their it seems like it bothers me more at the end of the day. Today is Nov.18/07 and I am getting something new it's like a thistle is being poked into the left side of my heel, left foot, this has been happening intermittently only for a few secondsast a time. I have been for a CT scan - nothing. In mid October/07 I had an MRI and it came back showing some damage and read me the report that said my myelin has suffered or has been attacked. So now my doctor is sending me to a neurologist for further tests but that appointment is not until Jan 21/08. I feel like I'm going crazy. HELP I am a 45 almost 46 year old female living in Canada. I also suffer from Bi-polar, depression  & high blood pressure controlled with meds. I have also gone through a diagnosis of fibromyalgia about ten years ago that lasted for just under a year. I also believe that being diagnosed with fibro_ _ _ _was just the doctors way of saying "Hmmmmm I don't know what this is that is causing her pain so lets call it fibro_ _ _ " Then when the pain got better they said I was in remission. I also suffer from headaches on a weekly basis and have profuse sweating which could also be signs of menopause. I just want to know what is wrong with me.

Your history of seizures puts alot of things in a different light.  It makes a diagnosis very difficult for a doctor if you have MS on top of all of this.

You can still have neuropathy with normal blood glucose levels.  I am a diabetic (very well controlledl) as well as someone with Fibro and MS.

Waiting till January for your Neurology appointment is difficult.  I know.  I have waited for months to get an appointment.  Perhaps you can call and see if you can get on their "cancellation list," if they have one.  People call to cancel their appointments all the time...so maybe you can get in earlier.

Your sore neck and shoulders may have been caused by your seizures.  The muscles go through the tension and jerking during a seizure and it's very possible that you pulled something you are not aware of.  I would mention this to your Neuro, when you see him or even better, what does your family doctor say about that?

As you probably already know, getting a diagnosis of anything neurological, can take some time.  It's definitely a waiting game.  But remember, we will wait with you.  Come here and vent your frustrations...we understand what it's like to go through the waiting.

By the way, Happy Thanksgiving.

How interesting that we all get similar symptoms! :-)  Makes me feel so much better, which does sound kinda weird hehe

Hi,
I can't add words of wisdom other than to say welcome and please feel free to vent and share.

I also get 'hot flushes", flushing, and sometimes wake up sweating (night sweats).  They were looking for menopause as a cause (but it was ruled out - I'm 37).  They have no idea for now and so we wait and see.

Wow, you have a lot of stuff going on with you. I agree with what you said about the fibro :-)

I suffer from very similar symptoms to you and am still unDXd. The Dr thinks MS at this point. I also suffer from profuse sweating, which is soooo embarrassing, and I'm 24. I have had hot flushes as well and thought that maybe I could be experiencing early onset menopause but that's not what they're looking at at the moment.

I hope someone with more knowledge can come on here and give some advice. All I can say at the moment is hang in there and keep us informed. I have waited for 4 months for my neuro appointment and it is finally in one week!! It will come quicker than you think.

Mel :-)
