Exacerbation of ms

Hi there.....its been almost 10 years since a relapse....numb from waist down, was under terrible stress, never thought it would lead to this.....anyone else with something similar?  how long will it last.....I'm hoping it will go away in not too long weeks as opposed to months?

Any advice?

Hey, curlygirl!  Sorry you're going through this relapse.  Seeing how you and steroids don't get along, all I can offer is to listen carefully to your bod, and rest, rest, rest!

I hope this passes soon.
Cheers!

hi there, i did Rebif and copaxone early in my diagnosis(when I was 39)....i'm now 50 and I think it slowed the progression of the disease...so I am thankful in that regards.   It is, however, difficult to all of a sudden have this relapse, hard to take for sure but I'll get through it.  Not a big fan of steroids as they do not agree with me at all and the numbness is strictly peripheral nerves and not in my muscles.  My doctor checked me today to make sure my bowel and bladder were working effectively.  phew.....
My feet and legs feel like they are taped up and waiting for a release....sounds's strange eh?
Thanks for your reply!
All the best!

If your symptoms are caused by inflammation they will go away when the inflammation subsides. When that happens is different with different people. Steroids can reduce inflammation and help you get out of a flair faster. Sometimes the inflammation goes away on its own. This is the unpredictable part of MS.

Hi and welcome to our little MS community,

Gosh you've been on medhelp for a few years already but you basically kept your dx of MS to yours self, I kind of wish you'd of come to our community sooner, we might of been able to help you a little getting through some of the things you been dealing with!

How long is a piece of string..........who knows is the basic answer to how long it takes to recover or not, unfortunately there is no way of knowing in MS. I have a ton of questions eg have you......seen your neurologist, had IV steroids, do you have spinal cord lesions, are you on disease modifying drugs etc?

Sorry but would you feel comfortable introducing your self and possibly providing some information, so we can come up with something for you?

Cheers...........JJ
