Exercise and MS

So I just dutifully finished my 5 km treadmill jog, and as usual the Lhermitte's is working its magic.  Bend neck forward, buzzing down my spine, and my right quad and hamstring areas.  As usual lately, I feel mildly crappy after exercising (it used to feel good, pre-MS) but I persevere, knowing I need to do it regardless.

I don't take it for granted that my symptoms are nothing compared to how much worse it could be.  Other than the fact that I still have double vision after 5 months, I feel relatively lucky, all things considered.  I know I may not always be as well as I am today, so am determined to use what I've got while I've still got it.  After being dx'ed, I vowed not to return to my couch potato ways until such time as my body dictates this for me.

Anyway, on to my question.  Today I have a new, albeit mild and minor, symptom.  Since exercising today, my nose is tingling.  It doesn't hurt, it's just all abuzz.  Does anyone else have this, and does exercising also make you more buzzy/tingly in general, or is this just me?

I have a lot of symptoms after a workout.  Depends on how I'm feeling that day.  I've been kinda woozy all day, and after my workout, I felt even more woozy.  Lots of numb areas, dizzy, tingly, and my right leg isn't working right.  After a couple of hours, I start feeling better.

I feel the same way about exercise - since I won't always get to work out, I'm going to try and do it when I can.  My philosophy is do what I can when I can, and when I can't - rest!

I have no diagnosis at present.  I do have a lot of facial stuff going on.  That's why my neuro decided to perform another mri.  I started with weird tingly/numb stuff around my nose and lips.  Now I have lots more facial stuff, but the tingling is pretty much always there, to a certain extent.

I also asked for another evoked potential.  I get it in april.  The nose feels lots of weird stuff.  It goes with the rest of my facial stuff.

good luck with things

I meant to also add that many people who have discovered they have ms recently, have found that it's best for them (and I agree with this, 'cause I do it) to push themselves just beyond their limits, rest as needed, and do it all again, as regularly as possible.  So, I take as many exercise classes as I can handle a week.  I get an increase in energy, frequently, afterwards.  And it has improved my mobility / balance / endurance/ etc.

It keeps pathways as open as it can and keeps muscles from atrophying.  Or however you spell it.  LOL

I think exercise has helped my energy level.  Before I started working out again, I'd come home from work and crash on the couch.  Now I come home from work, cook, then crash on the couch.  ;-)

Of course, I started working out when I started feeling better, so maybe it's another of those chicken and egg questions.

Exercise makes my feet and legs buzz like crazy, but I do it anyway. Keep it up.

Can't say about the nose. My nose has never buzzed.

I am not dx'd yet but the "nose tingle" is a new symptom for me that started a couple of weeks ago.  I haven't even mentioned it to anyone because I thought they would think I'm nuts!   I'm not happy you have it too, just happy I'm not nuts!

WHEN I WAS GOING TO THE FITNESS CENTER DAILY, I WOULD EXPERIENCE THE BUZZING IN MY NECK AND LEGS.

SOMETIMES I THINK THE NERVES GET OVER EXCITED AND GET CROSSED AND THEN THE BODY DOES ITS WONKY THING.

EXERCISE IS GOOD FOR THE BODY,SOUL AND MIND.

No, it's the wine making your nose tingle.  Actually, it's a common reported symptom.  Have you tried a cool to cold bath or shower "before" exercising.  This is highly recommended to decrease how much the body heats up during exercise.  Also, fans on you, wet t-shirt, wet hair,  anything that will evaporate on you.  They even make cooling garments for exercising.

Exercise pretty quickly heats the body a fraction of a degree.  This heated core temp is what can bring on symptoms and very rarely a true relapse.  Pre-cooling and cooling during is ESSENTIAL!.

I wish I could exercise. You all are lucky you can, so keep it up. I have 0 balance, and my legs barely hold me. My version of exercise is going to WalMart and using a push cart for balance take a couple of slow laps around the store to get groceries, etc. Hey! I guess I do exercise. Really, exercise as long as you can. I can remember 30 years ago being able to play tennis and go hiking. Those were the days I won't see again. Every day you can exercise is a blessing.
