Extreme Sensitivity to Sun Light/Any Light

Intermittently I will have mornings "when the sun is very bright"  I seem to be affected by the bright sun light.  My eyes water and I can not keep them open.  I get light headed and my nose feels funny.  It will go away once I am inside and out of the bright light.  At work it takes longer to go away (assuming because of the bright lights above my desk).  This morning it is making my face kinda numb and my right eye has more pain then usual.  Note:  yesterday I had a headache that would not go away. When I got up this morning it was gone.

Is there anything that can be done to help prevent this??

Is this related to the MS?
Thanks!

Leanne

I have the same problem and was told the same by thing by my Neuro.  Also the last time I had my eyes dilated at the eye doctor I had to wait longer because my one eye took longer to dilate.  The doctor actually finished another patient before he could do my eye tests.

I also  have always been very sensitive to bright lights.  In elementary school when I walked into the cafeteria (very bright lights) my eyes would water and want to close.  I have always had to wear dark sunglasses outside.

I have had sensitive eye to light from the beginning of life as I have light colored eyes. But at times they are a lot more sensitive than normal for me. Personally I have assumed this is due to my MS.

I say this as I do know that MS can effect how well your pupils respond to light.  In fact during one of my Neuro exams my Neuro pointed out to the students that were with him how the pupil of my left eye was not responding as much as the right during the test. It is always the left eye that is bothered by bright light more than the right.

This has happened a couple times to me inside. At night I read in bed so I usually use a big flashlight so I don't have to get up to turn lights off.

For a couple of days my eyes were so sensitive and I had to close them to make them ferl better.

It was onlly these couple of days and I had no problems before or after.

Hope you figure it out,n

I had that strong sensitivity to light years ago before my dx and never mentioned it to my optometrist because it only lasted a few weeks.

At the time I was having a cornea issue and chalked it up to that problem and the fact that I have a pale eye color that made me super sensitive.

I don't remember if I had headaches though.

Hopefully the issue clears up for you soon!

Usually heat just slows the nervous system like a computer that runs slower.
I walk slower in the summer. I have heard of normal people getting headaches from the sun.
