FYI - Patient release for Ampyra assistance

Over on another site I found a post about Ampyra – it seems that Acorda has a very broad release statement for patients to sign to request assistance with this drug.  I’m wondering if the other drug companies do the same?  

By signing their release to participate in this program, you are also signing away all of your patient privacy rights, including giving them permission to share this information with other parties. You should know this and understand exactly what this means before executing this document.

Just goes to again prove that we have to read all the fine print, and not just trust everyone to do the right thing.

Thanks for breaking that news to us Lu.  I was just on another MS site too, wonder if it the same one, and someone gave the link for the Ampyra assistance program.  

I think that if my insurance does not approve this med for me, that I would not be willing to sign their consent form giving my rights away - thank you very much.  I am just not that desperate to take this drug at this point.

That's quite a form!  Brief yet oh so dangerous and inclusive.  I would hope my physician would have some second, third, and forth thoughts about signing in that bottome section too.  He could wipe out any hesitancy on my part with one little swiggle signature.

This sounds like one the principles I use in training the dog --- "Nothing In Life Is Free"  (minimum requirement is to sit/say please)

Actually, it reminds me that the principle holds true for humans too except we are often asked to pay a much higher (hidden) cost.

My Copaxone assistance was like that plus I had to send all my tax forms every year which my husband did not care for.

My Neurologist suggested I begin using this drug.
I applied and was pre-approved for assistance, meaning there will be no out-of-pocket expense for me, but does anyone have first hand knowledge with the use of this drug?
