Fallen wrist

My wife was diagnosed with MS in April of 2008. A few weeks ago her left wrist fell or what the doc calls fallen wrist. He is ordering ot and looking at a brace to help her get mobility in the fingers. He has also ordered a MRI. Is fallen wrist common in MS patients? Are they treating it correctly? What can I do to help?

I have had this myself... Mine has never completely went away and probably never will... I have a wrist brace that I wear on bad days... It keeps my wrist straight and then my fingers work fine...

I may wake up one day and have no control of it what so ever and then I may go 2 or 3 days that I don't have to wear the brace... It's a very strange feeling and It's only in my right wrist...

I sure hope she gets over it soon... My thoughts are with you both...

I'll be praying,
Carol

I was sitting out back and my hand was under my chin open leaning on ARM of chair, I fellvasleasleep and woke up , my hand felt numb wrist to hand and thought it was asleep but it has been 3 days now and my wrist has fallen and I can't control it to lift my hand, my doctor never seen this ordered a brain mri and spine and neck mri. I am afraid, any ideas for me? How can this be?

The wrist is just there floppy. Her pain is under control but has trouble getting a good nights rest. She is on O2 and a cpap for sleep apnea.

I hae also never heard of fallen wrist but it sounds like it is very frustrating for her and painful too. If she is in pain is it under control and is she sleeping OK?

Sounds as if she has the best helper around and just knowing that someone cares enough to reach out to others on her behalf, must give her enormous support and inner strength.

Don't forget to tell her that she would be very welcome to join our forum if she has any questions herself that she can ask (assuming that she can type with her other hadn?)

Hope that the MRI provides some answers.

Best wishes

Hi from me too.

I hadn't heard of 'fallen wrist' so I Googled it--still didn't find anything. Do you mean your wife's wrist is floppy and she can't use it? What about her hand and fingers?

One of our members, Grannyhotwheels, has had something like this. I hope she sees your post and chimes in.

Hi there,

I sure do not know of fallen wrist, but if I'm picturing it correctly, I'm sure glad to hear about the brace. That sounds like something immediate they can to do keep it inline as so it does not cause other problems with the fingers, i.e., circulation, mobility, nerve damage, etc.

What Dr. did she see for this? The neuro or regular MD?

How is she and her spirits doing otherwise? If you feel comfortable please tell us a little bit.

What a gem you are to reach out for answers to ensure your wife is being treated properly.  Just this tells me you are already helping, alot!!!!

Thanks for joining us, and don't worry, others will chime in with thoughts.

See you around,
Shell
