Oh, gee, I forgot to mention that we'll be away next week, Lord willing; we expect to be visiting the dunes on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan for several days, in a borrowed pop-up camper.
Also, if anyone is interested, I am usually available to officiate at weddings, especially in OHio. Sounds like this crew's got a lot of 'em going on lately!
I figure once I have the electric service upgrade complete, I'll try to talk Alex into strapping her tool belt back on....
Last week we went to York this is about 330 miles from where we live. Had a lovely week. Now I'm home, I have heavy week at work and a Consultant appointment on Wednesday with the guy who thinks I have RSD. But last time I was expecting appointment with him I saw his registar who really only took notes and up the medication which is having no effect. So not to excited about it.
But then on Saturday we are off on holiday now usually we would visit your side of the pond but because I really can't see me making the flight and then being well enough to enjoy the holiday we thought we'd opt for a cruise round the Med! No flying involved but have never done this cruise thing before and although I know we'll have a great time I'd really rather being visiting America!
It sounds like an exciting week for all!
Wow, so much going on I don't even know where to comment and I have pretty much gone brain dead on who is going where, when! I wish you all luck on appointments and going ons - especially those two weddings (Julie, don't worry about them not having the big dream wedding as long as you are happy with the son you are gaining and your daughter is happy! Don't cry too much.)
I had a busy last week but not too much going on this week, thank goodness! My garage doors decided to stop working and I can't lift them so I have to park outside, lots of fun trying to pack all the stuff that needs to go to the sitters and with me to work plus trying to get my son in the car.
I normally get everything in the car while it's in the garage, since it's attached, while I let the dog out in the morning - it's part of my routine. Now I am all screwed up and am doing twice the amount of stairs trying to get us both packed up and in the car!
Thank goodness my husband was thinking of me yesterday and remembered to put my son's bike in the car (he takes it to the sitter's everyday!) and he put it in there while the doors were open. Who would have thought that a walk out ranch would have stairs going to every enterance! You don't think of these things until you have elderly trying to get into your house or you yourself have difficulty (muscle fatigue) doing stairs!
Ooh, I also have a graduation party at a house on lake erie (I will wave Johnny!) These people are so wealthy I have no idea what to give their kid for a gift (they are kind of family?) and then we also have a kids party at 5pm - stupid parents think that is okay to have a 4yr old and a 7yr olds party at 5 because they want to party - don't get me started on that one!!!!!! I am thinking we will be very late to the latter of the two!
Have a great week everyone! MeLissa
This week we're recovering from my partner's dad's visit with us. Busy, busy, busy.
Now, he's headed back to CA today, and our dog can get back to our regular schedule.
And I'm kind of starting to get ready for my trip back to Chicago next week for a wedding.
Another thing is that I'm getting my haircut on Thurs - Yippee, she moved to a new place that DOES NOT have stairs!
-Kelly
Mike, consider the schedule for your shots and think about doing them in the evening so you can sleep off the side effects. Several folks here can probably give you a tip or two about Rebif. You already are one of the lucky ones....... :-)
I'm finally starting to take Rebif on Tuesday, 4 months after my dx and perscription.
The nurse is comming over first thing in the morning and away we go.
I'm not concerned at all about the injecting, but I am a bit worried about the possible side effects. Maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones.
Mike
Julie congrats.
I have two extra dogs ( who never met ) for two weeks making it five and two cats.
Tuesday my first crown yippee!
Wednesday I have to have all the galvanized waste pipe replaced under the house with keeping the seven animals all secured inside. While getting over the dental work, which is on my migraine side.
Hopefully I will get a ride in at the end of the week. Saturday was wonderful. I rode over an hour which was a little hard. I spasmed some but boy was it worth it.
Alex
Yeah, I'd like to know where July went too!
Sounds like there is alot going on here.
~Jess, let us know what happens at your appt.
~Julie, try not to cry too much
~Frank, be careful in the sun
~Debtea, I hope your appointments go well, let us know what happens.
~Lulu and Ess, I hope you do get to have lunch together. Lu--if you are too tired, I'd be happy to go have your massage for you:-)
~Johnnie, I promise I won't hold the Buckeye thing over your head
~Pastor Dan, I hope the power company will help with your air conditioning. Maybe they would install it for you too. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend passing.
~Johnny, maybe the break will help. Do you have a cooling vest to help with heat?
~Summanadevi---eek, I hate the dentist!
~Mary, you really have alot on your plate, I hope you don't push yourself too hard
~Quix, I hope you have good news tomorrow!
I have just one appointment this week which is wonderful. But I do have an appointment to have another LP on Friday. My MS Specialist wants to have how many O-bands there were, even though the first one was positive they didn't specify the number of bands etc. I am going to actually obey doctors orders this time.
I don't know why I don't follow doctors orders. Maybe I am a littler cavalier about my health.
Anyway, have a great week everyone
Red
Where DID July go?
Busy week again, have frriends over tomorrow evening for apperitifs, and then my eldest Son is coming over with his G/F for a week (on Friday) - yey - not seen Jonathan for a year now, so we're all looking forward to it.I think that there're going to go into major 'meltdown' with this heat:)))
Right back to the dusting:))
Debs
Julie - Tell the newlyweds to have a blast.
Dennis - sounds great! Wish I were there!
Tuesday I see the orthopedic surgeon to recheck ankle and leg
Jess - good luck on induction. I'll follow you sometime. Just not there yet. I've lost 20 pounds this last year being somewhat careful. I'll coast for now.
Quix
Johnnymutt, I didn't realize you were a Buckeye too. Guess I'd better do that search Lulu mentioned and find out who my neighbors are.
Pastor, if fall can come as you finish the wiring, PLEASE put a rush order on the job!
I had to go turn the page on the calendar to see what's in store for me. Looks like personal body work with PT tomorrow and Friday. The dryer repairman will visit to collect his fee and hopefully stop the relentless drum squeak on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the car will go in for replacement of a valve that will enable the 'check engine soon' warning light to be turned off again.
Work expects me to show up a few days this week before I get a vacation break. Meanwhile this will be my final chance to do everything I need to before out of town family begins to arrive for my son's wedding on the 14th. This is the supposed to be small beach wedding that turned into something quite different.
I trust you all will understand if I disappear at some point before returning with a renewed committment to the role of mother-in-law. I wonder where I can get a repairman to tune me up in that department?
Mary
Johnny, this week's pie was Peaches and Cream - DH made another stop through Baumans and brought me TWO pecks of peaches. Today we had homemade peach ice cream. I thought of you and wished you were closer. Enjoy the lake.
Ess, you weren't around for my last week - a lunch almost every day and all but one was with another MSer. Great company and good food, too.
PD - if you ever get a dx, we need you to check into utility assistance to do central air/heat improvements. I believe there are bigger tax deducations if it is a medical necessity.
debtea - it sounds like quite the week. I'll watch for your report.
Dennis - I couldn't afford to treat you to lunch, or breakfast and definitely not dinner with that appetite.
Julie - breathe. breathe. breathe. What can I say about these daughters?
Julie, give Sarah our very best, please, and congrats to you, as well, for gaining a son-in-law. We will pray that all goes better than planned, and that G-d, however the happy couple and their families may see Him, is pleased with the choices that they make.
Also, please let me know if I can help.
As for me, finishing last week's news, the two little tiny things Doc R. took out of my colon on Tuesday were nothing to worry about. Come back in five years.
A long-ago former pastor of our church passed away Tuesday; we just got back from calling hours, something like 40 miles from here. Wonderful man; I will miss him.
Because of this, I missed tonight's ordination of a classmate and six others, but I was able to extend congratulations at this afternoon's District Rally. District Conference concludes tomorrow, 40 miles in a different direction. I'm driving in large clockwise circles around central Ohio this weekend.
Supposed to be hearing from our friendly local utility company; this heat has highlighted the electrical shortcomings in this 100+ year old house, so I am putting some long-ago experience into practice, installing a new electric service, from which I will backfeed the old service and then rewire the place a room or two at a time as time & money permit. At least I'll be able to start with new dedicated circuits for our three window a/c units -- meaning, of course, that Fall will come early, as soon as I have fnished.
Tim ripped a big hunk out of the top of his left big toe this afternoon. Kids. Gotta love 'em. I think Johnson & Johnson does.
Peace & blessings to all.
My wife, daughter, and I are taking vacation next week. Headed up to lake Erie, for which we have rented a cabin. It should be a nice get away. I am seriously hoping I don't ruin the vacation. Last week my spasticity started back up pretty badly, following a case of the stomach flu. I've actually got spasticity in my jaws, lol, quite painful. I am using diazepam and it is working pretty good so far now. Problem is, if I am late one hour on the taking the med, it takes about 8 hours to get back to feeling decent. The other problem is the extreme fatigue I am feeling, along with the spasticity fatigue, along with the drug fatigue. Sorry, I didn't mean to boo hoo here, but it got away from me, lol. All in all, I'm happy to be off of work, and with the fam.
This is a very busy week for me and I hope the fatigue and heat don't do me in! I have a Monday appointment with the orthadontist for my son. Tuesday is the MS Specialist that I have seen before and Wednesday is a new one...it will be fun to compare!
Thursday I have a Pet Scan of my lymph nodes- just a precaution. They biopsied one about a year and a half ago fine but others are enlarged so they want to just check them out. Throughout the week I have to get all my FMLA and disability paperwork in order and hopefully get a disabled parking permit - in case I can drive again soon.
Friday is rest day...I hope..LOL!
I sure hope this heat breaks soon and I hope everyone has a GREAT week!
Debtea
I have an appointment with my PCP on Thursday. Not sure how that will go.
Sure wish someone lived closer to me, I'd love to do lunch..Actually I'd do either dinner or breakfast just as long as there was some good food. I just love food too much for my own good.
Like last night I went out for dinner and had salad, sirloin steak ( 4 oz), green beans ( 2 TBSP) , BBQ chicken breast ( 6 tenders) , fried shrimp (24 large), shrimp cocktail ( 12 large), fish fillet ( 2 medium), bread, and two glasses of ice tea. Even after all of that I had to force myself to stop eating because it was so good. :)
Dennis
Wish I could do lunch with you, Lu, but I'm still very discombobulated from my travels.
I don't think I have anything major going on this week, but have to admit I have no clue!
Still re-entering reality,
ess
I'm planning for cooler weather (read winter!) and having the chimney sweep in on Tuesday.
I Have massage therapy scheduled for Friday. The rest of the week I am a free woman...... hmmmm, wonder who I can get to do lunch? LOL
Not much going on this week. Looks like the only thing moving will be the mercury in the thermometer.
Jess, congrats. and best wishes to the bride/groom.
As an aside, Sumanadevii, “Thanks” for reminding me that I have been procrastinating about going to the den, den, den, de, de, de, den, den, den, den, den, den, well you should know who I am referring to. I'm 58 and I can still hear the screams of my older brother at the (you know who's office) I was about 7 at the time!
Frank
I will probably spend most of my “free time” in the garden. It's not too hard for me to immagine that here in central NY the snow can be flying in about 90 days.
Julie,
I'll be thinking of you on Wednesday! My husband and I had a very small wedding, in our first apartment (a tiny 1 bedroom basement apartment) with just a judge, our parents & siblings there. I've been asked a lot if I regret not having the big wedding and my reply is always: "A lot of people have a dream wedding and a nice marriage. I had a nice wedding and have a dream marriage. I don't regret a thing!"
I wish your daughter many years of a dream marriage!
~Jess
My darling only daughter Sarah is getting married on Wednesday, August 4th. They are eloping, but we all came to an agreement that they will renew their vows one year from now with a proper but informal vows ceremony and a nice reception so all the family members who wnat to come can plan ahead. The wedding ceremony was just to complicated to organzie at the last minute and between people who are from different religions. Love has no boundries, obviously.
Wish me luck in getting through Wednesday without crying my eyes out that I'm not seeing the wedding I always dreamed of for my only daughter.
Nothing else more significant than that for this coming week.
Julie
I don't have much planned this week.
I see my neuro on Wednesday to find out the results of the LP and to talk to him about the other issues I have going on. And, hopefully, he can make me understand why he has not started me on DMD.
The only other thing is I'm starting the South Beach diet tomorrow. That means 2 weeks with no sugar or carbs. I'm hoping that I lose some weight to make it worth it, because it will be hard! I made the switch to whole wheat bread and pasta, and brown rice instead of white a long time ago, so phase 2 of the diet should be easier. I just need to get through the next 2 weeks LOL
~Jess
Yeah, I have something fun coming up....spelled
d e n t i s t
No like 'em!!
