Fluorescent light sensitivity

Does anyone on this site also have problems with fluorescent lights?  Prior to becoming really sick mid last year with what we're now pretty sure is MS, I never had any problems with fluoro lights.  Nowadays, when I spend time in a room with these lights, I become like a 'drunk' after about two minutes, I have extreme weakness in both arms and generally become disoriented.  If there are others with this problem, have you come up with any solutions that work?
Thanks

That is exactly how I react to flourescent lighting in large stores.  EXACTLY as you have described!!  Sunglasses sounds like a good thing to try.  I am going to try that.
I was diagnosed with MS about 4 months ago.  All of this is new to me.  Would love to keep in touch, it's nice to know there's someone else experiencing what I am.
Thank you.

still, they can write you a note saying you need to wear dark glasses (I got one in case I got stopped by the traffic cops at night wondering why I would be wearing dark glasses) as mine is neuro also.

also I found headlights less glaring at night with the sunglasses......side benefit I guess.  I do get wierd looks when going to the movies!

I hate fluroescent lighting  - it messes with my senses, and I think it has to do with the oscillation that goes on in the background when they are on.  That is just my guess.  For me, it mainly makjes me feel really tired and worn down. I think that comes from my senses being on overdrive in the lighitng.

Thanks for the website.  I've been under the ENT docs for the last few months and they've now told me, my problem isn't an ENT one, its neuro.
Cheers

Hi Poppy,

I commented on your last post where, if I'm remembering correctly you mentioned the sudden temporary deafness as well, and now with this light sensitivity I wanted to pass along this webiste. Have you seen a vestibular specialist as well? This is a good site. People don't often realize how delicate our vestibular system is - disruptions can affect our eyes, balance and so much more

Yes, I actually had to have two out of three of the florescent bulbs from the lights in my office at work removed so that I had less light in my office. I also sometimes wear sunglasses inside and just had Rx Sunglasses ordered.

I have problems with most lights as I have been light sensitive for the last 6 yrs.  You might try sunglasses, I know, indoors looks funky but I have been wearing them 24/7 for 6 yrs and don't pay anyone any attention any more!

Hope this helps.  Have you discussed this with your eye doctor?  That's who clued me in and suggested the above.
