Forteo used for osteoporosis in MS patient

I was diagnosed with MS in 1985 and it is now the Secondary Progressive type,  (Slowly progressive)  I have a history of medication intolerance.  Medications are ether slow to metabolize or be eliminated.  Whatever the cause, I develop toxic, life-threatening symptoms on very small doses.  I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo.  I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose.  The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling.  My doctor suggested every other day.  So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose.  This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day.  I move in slow motion.  My doctor is puzzled.  Anyone had a similar experience?

Suzanne,  Happy Birthday! I too often wonder how I got old so fast.lol Time flies I guess.
I will check out that website. The drs won't let me take things like actonel or that class of drugs as my osteoporosis affected the bones in my jaw and they are afraid to take the chance as with those drugs there is a risk. I was disappointmented about the forteo. I think that drug is more dangerous than its worth personally.
Are you still working as an RN? I am not able to work now and I miss it so much.
Let me know you turn out regarding the forteo.

Thanks for your response.  I looked at your profile and see that we have a lot in common.  I just turned 63 today.  Bummer.  Life goes on.  How did I get this old?  I am also an RN.  I went to nursing school in the 60s which, seems like Florence Nightingale's time it was so long ago.

Check out the website http:www.Betterbones.com.  Good alternative approach to bone strengthening.

Yes forteo put me flat on my back. It also caused me to have an arrythmia of heart. I will not take it ever again. I can't take the other osteoporosis drugs so just hoping the calcium/Vit D are enough. I am also very careful and pray I won't fall.
