Functional MRIs - fMRI and studies

Hey All,

So I've been reading some of these trials Ref. the functional MRIs (fMRI) and how they seek to identify deficits in the brains of MS patients and other diseases.  Then, I read a piece of a review of a study on pubmed reference the MS plaques where they discussed a new larger, lesion having the risk of evolving into a permanent T1, which we all know they consider "black holes" which correlate strongly w/disability, etc. But they also talked about the brain compensating in other areas.

So, I got to thinking to thinking about my black hole, the one I've blamed so many disappearing things on, and I said to myself, "hey, maybe I should sign up for one of these studies!"  Give that BH a little attention.  Maybe they will look at it.  Maybe they will find out where my deficits are and where (as if) my brain may be compensating for the damage, etc.

Whatcha think?

ttys,
Shell

Hi Shell,

Sounds like a good idea to me, couldn't hurt.

The brain is one amazing thing, isn't it.  How it can compensate and work around damage just amazes me.

Good luck with this!!!

Shell,

I say go for it! We all need to keep trying anything that can't hurt us more than we are right?  Keep us posted if you do go for it. If you find answers we will almost all want to sign up for these studies :)

Good Luck

Erin :)
