Geez whats next??Now my kidneys are worse!

I got a call from my Drs. office today after getting my bloodwork back. It seems my kidneys are worse & now I have an appt. with a nephrologist at the dialysis clinic because my kidney function had decreased significantly since my last blood work a yr ago. I guess it shows how poor treatment from uncaring Drs. can afffect your body. I feel like I'm falling apart piece by piece. I begged them to check my kidney function due to severe back pain while at the E/R & all they would due is the simple urine test which doesn't show creatine levels. My potassium & blood pressure were also elevated again & my creatine had went from 1.5 to 2.3. I have the appt. with the new neuro on the 12th of Nov. & the appt. with the nephrologist the next day on the 13th, so that $200 in 2 days. While I am upset about all thats going wrong with my body I equally upset that being sick costs so much. I can't afford this ! We're in financial dire straits as it is! I keep thinking after just turning 40 in Aug that I'm too young for all this! As of now I have probable MS, degenerative disc disease, fibrocystic disease in breasts (that hasn't been checked in years), kidney disease so I'm afraid to ask whats next! I really wish Drs had to go through a class on professionalism, & compassion & mabey all of tyhis wouldn't have progressed this far. I am however thankful that I have finally found a good PCP or this new development with my kidney disease wouldn't have been caught. Now I'm wonderng whats causing the kidney disease in the 1st place but I guess thats a question for the nephrologist. Please keep me in your prayer! Thanks!

Tammy,
this sure sounds like you have gone from bad to worse.  The kidneys are nothing to be messing around with, as you already know.

Although the cost of the doctor appts are adding up fast, you can't afford to not go to either of these.  I'll hope that both of them are able to come to a speedy and accurate diagnosis  and not drag this out.

hang in there.

I know its neverending!! I feel like I woke up in a nightmare 3 yrs ago that I can't seem to escape! Yes, I have had alot of pain especially in my back. I'm running a low grade fever so the spasms are awful & much worse than usual as are the annoying twitches all over. I asked my PCP when he called today if the raised potassium levels could be causing the cramps & spasms & he said mabey the cramps but feels the lesions on my brain are causing the spasms , twitches & my bowel & bladder issues. I was told to stick to the low potassium diet that my previous nephrologist had put me on but if all you can afford to eat is beans & potatoes thaen what are you gonna do. I have to quit taking the prednisone this time after 7 days because of concern over my kidneys ( or at least until I see the nephrologist). The neurontin does help but the zanaflex isn't doing anything for the spasms so I guess I have to live with them.

Good grief Tammy kidney disease is nothing to fool around with.  I am surprised no one had checked you in so long.  Are you in a lot of pain with this...not like there isn't enough pain as there is.

I am grateful for this new GP.  He seems to be on the ball.

Let me know what happens.  I know it seems like a long wait.  I am surprised the nephrologist appt isn't sooner.

We will talk soon, terry
