Gettin' a little wild for my taste

I mentioned in some thread last week that my right leg had joined in the spaz party for the first time. It was at it again this weekend - still feels like walking with a cement pillar for a leg. However, all heck seems to have broken loose this evening. I am having spasm after spasm on both sides, arms, legs, feet, hands, fingers, neck, abdomen, back, hip...  muscles I didn't know I had. I will have a spasm that lasts 10 to 15 minutes, fades for 5 then comes right back. Really having a rough night. Do spasticity meds work at all? I surely do not feel like they do. The muscles that are not spasming at any given moment are twitching madly. Any ideas as to what the heck is going on???

I know there's nothing you guys & "hot broads" can do, but I just had to let it out. I hurt like hell. Only got up to the computer coz I was about to pee on my recliner and the bathroom is next to the den. Proud of me though - barely cried yet.

Thanks for always listening.

Zilla - I really don't have a doc to call. My PCP doesn't know where to go from here and CCF was a waste of my time. Working on getting the results of my spinal. I figure it must not have been too exciting or someone would have called me - ?

I had been falling several months ago, but it faded and I was happy. not sure what's up with this resurfacing. Same with the walking into walls - they seem to go hand in hand. Yeah, i should have had my head looked at the first time, when I split it open, The second time wasn't as bad - just a bump. I just feel like the woman without a country - or a doc. Nowhere to go and frustrated with the whole situation.

Nette & Rutey - always nice to have more people to invite to my new line of Spaz Parties! Rutey - good to hear from you, girl. Where've ya been? How's Pootey? My spasms seem to subside a BIT then have a horrendous week every 4-5 weeks. Nobody even THINK hormones - I've had no plumbing for 6 years! That ship has sailed. Some day I'll share that thrilling adventure - yeehaw!

I know all about the "spazzing out" and the shaky jello legs. Ive had them for about 4 months now. They subsided for about a week, but are back. I take magnesium 1000 mgs a day, and neurontin 400 mg three times a day. Mine arent painful but very ANNOYING. I feel for you, I hope you are feeling better!

I just read this thread -- maybe again, I'm not sure, but I know I didn't read the part about you FALLING!

You have to take care of yourself.  Call your doctor.  Monday!  What are you waitnign for?  I know you have tests coming up, but things are getting bad for you.  Tell her (?) that you have fallen and hit your head.  I would say that's anm important thing to report, don't you?

Yes, you are an independent woman, no one is disputing that.  Now, take that stubborn bull by the horns, Girl, and call your doctor!  Pronto!

Fell better.  That's an order.  At ease,

Zilla*

I know this sounds weird but the only thing I have that is spasming is my right foot big toe!  But it hurts all the way up to my knee.  It is dumb but...the spasms really drive me nuts.  The aching is terrible and the constant twitiching gets agravating.
Penn, my husband makes fun of me when I get my words wrong and cant think of the right word and sometimes he just starts hollering at me.  It s hard to bear - so I try not to say much to him.  I can relate to how all yall feel and understand alot.  I also trip over the air and drop things all the time. So I guess I am a sqinter, spasming, triping, dropper kind a chick!  hehehe.  Prayers to yall, Lynette or should I say nette573

Thanks for listening. It's weird, I don't rmember being dizzy or anything before I fell. I just... fell. I hadn't done that in quite a while. Hadn't been walking into walls nearly as much either, still every now and then, but is really increasing again. Typing is really hard. I have to retype practically every word. Annoying. I'm a fiercely independent woman, always have been. This is definitely not easy for me. I am a bull-headed, "I can do it myself" thing, and this falling down, walking into walls stuff is a pain in my butt (or should I say, in my head!)

Gee Penn you sure are having a rough go. But it may not hurt to get your head checked out for concussion as this is the second whack you took. Don't fool around with that okay?

We are always here for you if you need to vent or whine. You are here for us so let us return the favor. It is better to get things off your chest then to keep it bottled in and it sure is easier when you know that others understand where you are coming from.

I'll be praying that you see relief soon.

Well, Terrie, your "poof" worked for a day (hey, I'll take what I can get, lol). Had a good day Thursday aside from the headache still from whacking my head and a few walks into walls at work (hoping no one saw).

Believe it or not, I fell AGAIN last night and whacked my head again, about an inch or 2 from the last whack! I thought my head hurt before! Gheesh! It didn't get cut this time though, so that's good. DH is mad that I didn't go get my head looked at the first time. I told him that would not have stopped the second time. Secretly I know he's right coz it shouldn't still hurt days later. Up all night with spasms, so I catnapped quite a bit today (with ice on my head). Ventured out to the store for a bit a little while ago before I went bonkers from being inside all day.

Holding my own though I guess. Hate to be stuck inside though.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers - helping to keep me afloat till this subsides.

Yes,,absolutely whine to us!  After all, that is what we are all here for is to share our burdens with one another and support each other.  We all need somewhere to go with all of this, and people who believe in us and our pain.  I think it is extremely difficult for others who feel fine to understand how debilitating this can be.  And it is not always the degree of pain (although that too), but the constant troubles that wear us down.  I know that I keep alot inside from my family because if I complained about my hurts or troubles, I would drive them nuts.  Here a a hug to you and hopes & prayers that you stop spasing Right Now!  Poof....hope it worked.

I can truly understand your not wanting to upset your husband when there's nothing he can do and it only makes things worse. So do what you have to from that perspective. But absolutely 'bug' us whenever you want. Please hang in there.

I have my hubby. He's working on his MBA though, and I try not to bug him. He takes good care of me with rubbing Icy Hot on spasms and heating pads. The poor thing is more upset re the whole situation than I am, I think. I have been working on not showing my pain because he gets fightin mad at the docs, the world, etc. That only makes us both more miserable, so I am getting better at not crying out or crying in general. I truly don't mean to bug you guys either. I shouldn't come on and whine so much. I'll try to control that.

My doc tried Skelaxin and it did not work for me, so went back to baclofen and quinine. I seem to have periods of time when my spasms are infrequent, then out of nowhere I get these periods that are unbearable - they usually last a week or so, so hopefully spaz-apolooza will be over in a few days.

My gosh, I am worried about you. That fall was awful. Please do let us know if anyone is there to help you, and don't hesitate to 'hit' the ER.

You are having a time...do you have anyone at home to help you out when you are hurting? Or just us all in cyberworld?  I sure hope you are feeling better.  My doctor gave me Skelaxin 800mg for muscle spasms, but I did not notice much difference.  Please make sure to see your doctor soon and let us know how you are doing.

Day 3 of spaz-apolooza this evening. Not quite a bad as the past 2 though. This morning, I fell and cracked my head open - darned air, keeps tripping me! Fell into the door frame and whacked the upper left side of my head. Didn't realize it had been cut till I was at work - shows how much attention to appearance I pay in the morning. Red hair blends in, I guess.

Sorry to hear that you have not been well but I would love to come to the spaz party. I know how it feels and to work with it is no fun at all. I have found Tiger Balm helps a bit with the spasms although the smell isn't that great. I used it one day at work and the girls there kept coming up to me and told me I smelled funny. haha

I sure hope you get your results soon and let us know.

As far as angels I agree that all these "folks" are. As for me my family has always said I'm an angel but my halo slipped and is now around my neck. haha I wore a devil costume one year for halloween and attached angel wings to the back and put the halo around my neck. It was a hoot.

I do hope you get some relief soon.

Thinking of you

Made it through work. Had some good spasms during work, which doesn't happen often - usually come later in the day/ evening when I'm getting tired. Got home and started the spazapalooza all over again. Thanks for the ideas and the support.

I have not heard re the LP et, but did get a call re my pulmonary function test (to see why I can't loose the bronchial spasms) - I have asthma. Hey, the more the merrier:(  sorry, feeling cynical tonight. Getting more like my mom every day - she never smoked yet had asthma and emphysema.

Will begin harrassing CCF re my LP results this week. It's certainly been long enough. Surely he's not waiting for my EEG - it's not till 12/7!

You folks really are angels (I don't know if you have wings or not - can't see you).

Hey sweetie,  I'm sorry your not having fun at the party.  I know how you feel.  The dang party guys come and visit me quite a bit and not once have I enjoyed it.
I haven't tried this yet but my son swears by it.  He rubs vick's vapor rub on his legs for muscle cramps.  He is on his feet all day in steel toed shoes and on cement.  He has terrible leg cramps because of it.  So far my medicine seems to help mine to at least be tolerable, but I may try the vick's if it gets as bad as yours.

Hang in there and cry if you want.  That's why God gave us tears/ to use.  You know that your in my heart and my thoughts.

I'll be praying,
Carol

Penn,
Until you can get prescription relief, you can try magnesium orotate (or any magnesium if you can't find that kind).  Quix had mentioned in earlier posts that she uses mag or.  and any form of magnesium may help you.

Any news on your LP results???

Sorry you are having a rough time.  I don't have a dx, but I know exactly how you are feeling.  My spasms had gotten a little less in frequency and pain since the weather has been cooler, but started up again last week.

It is hard to deal with on a daily basis and not want to cry.  You take care of yourself and don't overdo at work.  I will pray that your spasms take a break and give you some relief.

Love & ((((hugs)))))

Thansk so much for all your thoughts and prayers. Made it through the night. Wanted to go to ER, but had no one to take me. I won't call an ambulance, not for spasms that is. I mean if I was gonna die if I didn't I would, lol.

Gonna try to get to work, not sure though. Other supervisor still off from holiday, and new 3rd hasn't started yet, so I really need to be there. I will try to stay @ my desk so no one can see me walk funny.

Anyway, off to try to try to shower. Wonderful device, ya know? If you can stay upright, lol!

Thanks again for always being there.

I agree with T - get your booty (wet or not) to an ER!!  You are not diagnosed and you need these things documented so that you can get a diagnosis and some relief hopefully!

Please consider going!!

Okay I'm done chuckling now.

These spasms need to be observed by a medical profressional.

Yes,spasm meds work if they are in the right doseage and maybe a combination of meds.I take baclofen, valium and zanaflex all together to keep the one women spaz party at bay.It doesn't always work though.

Don't pee on the recliner unless its leather.

If these persist go to your ER and make someone listen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Don't suffer.

And no I don't have my name in BLUE yet.But I'm getting there.

It helps me to know that there is someone like you, that can relate to what I seem to go through so many days of my life, since finding out I had MS.  I have found little relief in all the drugs available for spasms.

Since I have a spinal lesion, I understand that this is not abnormal.  I feel your pain, Penn...I really, really DO understand what you are going through and my heart aches for you.  I wish I could wave a magic wand and have your pain stop.  I have even gone as far as asking my doctor to admit me to the hospital to give me an epidural, just to give me SOME relief from continual spasms and pain.  Even if the epidural would only be a short-term reprieve.  Believe it or not, my doctor's have agreed to helping me, but doing this very thing, from time to time...just so I can know what it's like not to have pain for 24-48 hours.  Whatever my insurance will allow.  They frown on this sort of relief, since it would require that I stay in the hospital for a couple days....

Even if it's temporary relief, I would take it in a minute sometimes.  It would save what little hair I have left, when I feel like pulling it out, due to pain.  Sometimes it's more than I think I can bare.  But, I perserve and move forward.  There is alot of life I have to experience and I don't want to miss a minute of it.

Hang in there sweetie....

Hot Broad and "Spaz" legs,  Heather
