Good News...hopefully

I live in a small city and have been searching for a support group in or around the area for two years now.

I just received a text from a friend who was talking to a 29 year old female with Ms in the area. She told him that the second Wednesday of every month there is a graoup that meets from 1-3pm in my city. He even stated there was a 34 year old guy that could be my prince charming lol. Baby steps, let's worry about the graup before we start thinking about romance.

I am going to check it out. The only other group I found and went to awhile back was about 8 or so 60+ females that were just gossiping and not much help. Although they were very nice, it was hard to relate as they have had MS for 20+ years.

Pretty pumped about it and thought I would share. It is amazing how what excites me these days differ from a couple of years ago, but that is life for you!

Have a great day everyone,
Barb

Thank you so much.
My doctor suggested I check online for things like this, I can definitely tell her I've found a good one finding all the nice people already on here.  Good find! Haha.
I will definitely be chatting especially to help me get back to being my normal self again.  Even if I've got a long time yet, I'm trying to stay positive however hard it gets.
Thanks again.

TLC you have definitely found a great place with great people! It is great to be able to chat even when you are feeling sick and down. It is an added bonus that we don't have to leave the comforts of home or when we cant.

Anytime you have any questions or need support, I am positive anyone here myself included will be there. Chin up it does get easier over time as you learn to adapt.

All the best,

Barb

Having only just started on this site this is what I have found already, everybody seems so nice and hopefully I can get some help and advice as I go through what comes next for me.
You especially seem to be someone already I would talk to.  Hopefully that's ok.
I hope I find a similar group in my area too. To be able to do just a little would be great, just as soon as I'm not so tired.
Thanks

The group was really great. There were abbout ten people of all ages. What was really nice for me was that two other people were young and with walkers that had similar walking issues.

To see that was amazing for me because it really made me feel as if I was not alone in my particular issues.

When I got there we had an hour long session of chair yoga. The ms society pays the instructor to come in for all of us. After the yoga we sat around and talked for an hour.

They meet twice a month for two hours. I just wanted to add that this website has been instrumental in helping me feel not so alone in my struggles. I am so thankfull to everyone here for their kindness and support. You guys and gals rock ;)
By the way the guy I met is super nice so that is always a bonus lol. Definitely not looking though.

Hi,
being just newly diagnosed with MS (few weeks), I was wondering how I would be dealing with it all.
Knowing that you can maybe find support groups in your area is amazing.  Hope I can in mine.
Thank you for mentioning it.
hey, good luck with that other part of it too. Haha.

Great about the group. In our area we have a young people's MS group which I think is great. I met my husband at a support group 20 years ago.

Awesome! I finally happened on one in my area too but haven't yet gathered the courage to call the organizer. You are inspiring me to make that call!

Nice one! Sometimes you can't beat a bit of face-to-face coffee, commiseration, and laughs. Glad your wait may be over! Not feeling alone in this is so important.
