Okay buddy...this is the time you have been waiting for with anticipation and expectation. So rub your hands together and get ready to go "give 'em h e l l."
I join the others in good thoughts and prayer that it is finally the appointment that gives you the answers that you seek.
Take our hand, each one of us; and know that we will be standing right there beside you giving you strength. Sap some of our OUR energy while you are at it. You can't lose, my friend. You never walk alone....that's a PROMISE!
Big Hugs and Many Prayers,
Heather
Thanks very much for the information. The Information regarding how I have proceeded with my eye has been at my opthamologist. The neuro I was seeing offered no help as to a cause or anything that would help. She did order the brain MRI and blood work after the fact that was it. I have seen no improvement. That is very frustrating. I will keep you posted.

Best wishes for a good and productive visit tomorrow. And mega prayers will be headed your way. Remember, a journey to diagnosis is taken one step at a time. Sometimes, baby steps, sometimes big steps. Will be praying for answers for you tomorrow, especiall that they can help your vision............Maggie
Double vision is a very disturbing symptom indeed. I wanted to mention to you that although there seems to be conflicting views on this, most of what I have read indicates that it is not a good idea to keep one or the other eye patched constantly. Apparently this may interfere with the brain's ability to adapt to the problem. It also may cause one to lose peripheral vision in the patched eye, if done for a long period of time. Patching is not therapeutic, just a coping mechanism so you only see the one image and can get around more easily for short periods of time.
There are some new approaches to adapting to diplopia including semi-translucent spot patches for glasses. They are a lot more discrete than patching and allow for peripheral vision. They are situated on the lens so as to block the position of gaze that is causing the diplopia. This might be helpful for you, while you wait for things to hopefully return to normal. I'm looking into it myself at my next visit with my orthoptist.
I just wanted to mention this to you prior to your neuro appt since you may want to question him on his advice re: patching. Of course every case needs to be treated in accordance to each unique set of circumstances, but for that very reason, I'm concerned that your neuro gave you this advice when he has no idea what is the cause of the problem. Hopefully the neuro-ophtha will be able to give you some good advice in this regard.
When I said there has been some improvement in mine, I should add it has been VERY slow. Your measurements of 15dp are about what mine are now. Seven to eight months ago, I started at >50 in left gaze and 25dp in right. So I was in much worse shape then you, and things do seem to be getting better for me. SLOWLY.
My neuro told me recently that he has had patients who've had their diplopia resolve after more than a year. A long time to wait, but hearing that did give me some renewed hope.
If it is decided that steroid treatment may be in order for you, this may assist in speeding up recovery time of normal vision.

Best wishes and prayers said for you. I hope you do indeed get some answers tomorrow.
Take care, Pat :)
I will certainly update on everything. My vision has been doubled since January. images appear side by side. The distance apart they are varies. It is persistent and at the present time I war a patch over my right eye. my dx optha advise I keep it covered. He gave a measurement of 15 when it first happened????, after my third visit the concern in his voice and "absolutely no improvement" worried me. He seems to be the straightest shooter of all my docs honestly. He seemed very concern even after writing my neuro that nothing more was being done. Shrotly thereafter I was refered to this expert. he was so good he could look and say that it had nothing to dowith my MS sx....go figure ???? A prism was mentioned and then he suggested just keeping it covered.
I will touch base here tomorrow and fill you in on all the details....
God Bless,
Mike
Best wishes, I hope the trip yields some good information for you. Let us know how you do, with both the 'expert' and the neuro-ophtha. I'm eager to hear about it all, including what you find out about your double vision.
BTW, how long have you had this vision problem? Can you describe it to me, eg: does it come and go or is it persistent; is it horizontal or vertical; if horizontal, which is worse - your left or right gaze; does the second image disappear when you cover either eye; do you know what your measurements are; has it improved since onset, gotten worse or remained the same; have prism lenses been recommended to you?
Clearly I am very interested in double vision, given that is my current nemesis (along with MS in general). I'd be interested in comparing notes with you. Mine is due to INO caused by a brainstem lesion. It's been 7 months now and there has been some improvement in my measurements.
Good luck tomorrow!

Thank you so much for all of the kind words and prayers. I already feel I will have each and everyone of you there with me in the morning. SL you gave good advice "leave the old appointment behind" believe me friend I feel we all deserve a second chance. If he is as good as his billing then it should show.
I am so glad that I found this forum, the support you have all shown is just another reason to make me feel that way. God Bless each of you and I will be sure to update you tomorrow evening.
Mike

I'm wishing you the very best and will be praying for you. If this "expert" doesn't work out, fire him and see a different one. Sometimes these guys get too big for their britches.
Your friend,
Deb

Good Luck Today Michael.
Try very hard to listen to what the Dr. says. They do leave things open sometimes because they just don't have answers that this time, or they would rather not say until certain, this I've learned. Leave your old visit behind you.
Are you bringing someone with you?
Don't close yourself off to him/her. Stay optimistic - You never know, maybe it was just a bad day. Now, that is not an excuse, but it does happen.
All the best to you,
SL
Wish you luck today with your appointments and that you get some answers! I'll pray for you and hope you have a good apt. : ) Let us know how it goes!
