I had a wonderful dinner at Dar Essalam (House of Tranquility), a Moroccan restaurant.  Hot tea made with fresh mint, orange blossom water, and some sugar, fresh pita and hummus, lentil soup, salad plate, and then the entree.  I had this marvelous vegetarian couscous dish that was perfectly spiced, so you could taste each individual vegetable, and still enjoy the blending of flavors; the pine nuts were a nice touch.  The owner and his wife were kind and attentive, and they offered me dessert at 1/2 price as a birthday bonus, but I was too stuffed.

The dessert would take 20 minutes to bake, some puff pastry filled with many fruits and garnished with almonds and powdered sugar and ice cream.  Maybe someday, but I had that ice cream cake at home, and the slice of that was perfectly delightful.

Mint chocolate chip with hot fudge; I could have found room for a little of that; a favorite combination of mine, Quix!

Glad you got your power back, Santana, and that everything's working right.  Our last thunderstorm blew out our ethernet connection and it was a royal pain.  I love lightening and thunder storms; you kind of had fireworks to celebrate my birthday; cool!

I stopped by Cold Stone Creamery last night and bought a small Coffee Crunch Ice Cream Cake.  It has coffee ice cream between layers of devil's food cake, with Heath Bar crunch and is covered in a rich chocolate ganache.  It says it serves 8, and I learned last year that you don't go for a double serving of this stuff; it is sooooooo rich!

I'm handing you each a virtual slice of it, but please feel free to go and get your favorite treat and enjoy it in celebration of my birthday.  We all know that birthday calories don't count!  

I plan on having a good time today; hope you will all join me and do the same!
