Hard Breathing In

Has anyone else experienced any problem getting air in? It just feels like there is something stuck in my throat and i have to actually force air in. sometimes its not that bad but sometimes its really bad. Ive noticed its the worse when i talk alot but i alsoget a stiff felling around my mouth and nose when i talk alot too, but not all the time just 3-4 times a day for about 5-10 mins. the breathing prob just doesnt seem to go away though it just fluxuates with how much it is effecting me.anyways just wondering thank you

Hi Kenny,
when I first saw your post title I copied this url

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/790358

because we had an excellent discussion about the MS hug going here.

But your question doesn't quite sound like the hug.

We have had a number of discussions about swallowing and I hope one of those folks can help you with this one.  In the meantime, read up about the hug .....

my best,
Lulu

Being one who talks a lot, I can tell you that my breathing ability is often connected with the humidity level.  A dry air will make my throat so dry that it seems to want to stick closed, while air too humid can bring on wheezing.  Neither's good, but I think my respiratory respiratory system better tolerates the humidity than its lack.

I'd also wonder if there isn't possibly an asthmatic component to what you've described.

Teri here - one of my symptoms I have had about a month ago was a feeling like I had a shoe string around my neck. It wasn't tight, but creepy. Like I was wearing a turtleneck and I wasn't. Anyone had this?

I experience this, yes! It'll be like I have to make a HUGE effort to get any air. Like the air isn't getting to my lungs to get to my brain. But there's nothing in my throat, no reason for it. It helps if I massage around the lymph nodes and down the sides of my neck and drink cold water. I have a hard time swallowing too and letting cold water just fall down my throat has been helping with that while I eat so I don't choke or inhale food. I do still get periods where I just cannot swallow and have to drool for awhile.

Can I ask if anyone here gets a sensation in the back of their mouth that feels like it's being pricked with a needle and then they salivate a whole lot and the eye on the side of the stinging pain waters a ton while they make like an involuntary gagging noise? I get that and I was just hoping someone could relate. It was one of the first really strange things, but 7 years ago I didn't think much of it. Of course, it didn't every day back then.

Love to you,
Diemyn

oh yeah! without a doubt I can relate big time. have made many complaints to my doctors over the years about this. of course they always said it was stress, and  i tried to believe them, followed their orders, lived in discomfort, but knew that wasn't the complete answer. it has really kicked my butt over the years and affected my social life along with other aspects of this whole situation. try jumping out of a plane when this is happening with the gear on!!

now with a so-so diagnosis of an unspecified D-D (i'm tired of trying to spell it), i don't think it was always bulls--- stress. can we second that in motion? ;-)
