Has Anyone Here Tried a Cooling Vest?

Hi, MSers!

Has anyone here tried a cooling vest in hot weather?  If so, what were your impressions and experiences with it?  Did you have fewer exacerbations?

Thanks for any input!  I'm thinking of trying one next summer.

I use one and it helps a lot. I hike three miles in it, mow the lawn in 90 degree heat.

would you mind telling us which one you use?  I am curious about these as well.

Thanks,

I did not know insurance would pay so I made my own. I went to Dicks Sporting Goods and bought a fishing vest with lots of pockets. I went to Wallmart and they have these light weight ice packs which you can cut up to the size you want. I fill the pockets with ice packs. I can exchange the ice packs as needed.

If I bought one it would probably be one like the Equestrians used in the Bejing Olympics when it was so hot.

How creative Alex! I bet that was a lot cheaper than an official cooling vest.

Be sure to check out the free sources of cooling items available through other organizations - I just posted a new link today for

http://www.msfacts.org/programs-activities.aspx

and you can also apply for cooling equipment from the MS Association at

http://www.msassociation.org/programs/cooling

I hope something here helps!

Wow, thanks for reminding me.. My PGP filled out both RX for the cooling vest and new manual wheelchair, I totally forgot until reading your post.. I have to get them sent off to MSAA this week...

This plus the earlier post I read about the 02cool bottle tells me I need to get my head working better, I am letting things fall to the wayside and that MUST Change Now...

Onward and upward...

Hope every one is feeling OK tonight... I'll write a new post about the Old Gal, after I get through checking on all of you... First things first...

Love & Hugs to all {{{{{~!~}}}}

I used the vest , when I could go out for a trip to the store. It was about 90 degrees. But that is ALL the vest will last . If you are going to out longer than a few ours I wouldnt count on it, but for a few ours in a garden , or walking around yardsale or something like that, it is great. And please dont buy it, use the MSAA free application they give. IT IS A ONE TIME ONLY YOU CAN GET THREE THINGS. I got a wheelchair, A coolvest, and something out my brain wont let me remember . Good luck.
