Health insurance exchanges

If you are curious about the planned premium rates for your area and don't want to wade through the portal to get the information, here is an online spot you can go to, download the file, and then look at the costs per your state/county combination.  It's much easier and quicker than the government site.

Kyle, it I am remembering correctly, NY is doing their own exchanges and your state won't be in the federal exchanges.  But I may be wrong.

I would like to go online to see if I can get apple to apple comparison.

I'll wait until the websites are working better..

Until then,   I can keep my plan and it  much higher out of pocket cost.
OUCH....

take care

Unfortunately, that will be the case for all of us, Dan. With no longer having Pre-Existing Conditions; insurers had to raise costs to pay for the influx in claims they will be incurring next year. My employer selected a 70/30 plan last year in anticipation; however, they reimburse 1500 of our 2000 deductible.  I of course had my MRI since our enrollment term rolled over. I'm anxiously awaiting that bill :)

I am in no way bringing this up as anything other than facts and advising that we are all feeling the same pinch during our employer benefit meetings.......

Lulu - I couldn't find any NY info at that site. The list seems to go from NJ to OR.

Today is Day 4. I still cannot access the NY exchange. If this is how they handle the sign up, I'm not optimistic about the administration of the actual program.

Our plan (through Nancy's employer) went up this year, too, and deductibles went up.  Our copay was already 20%, meaning that all my MRIs cost us a bunch.

Ah, well, it's only money, right?

I'm waiting to see the official announcement tomorrow but it appears my employer is doubling the deductible amount, increasing my premium about $750 a year, changing the co-share payent from 90/10 to 85/15.  The office visit copays will remain the same.  I don't know what is going to happen to our pharma pay levels.

The good news is I can get a free colonoscopy!  Read into that what you want!  LOL

So glad you found that access to the rates useful.

Thank you for posting this. I've had clients ask me about this today even if I don't work in the health side of the business it's inevitable that someone still asks for my opinion. You are awesome!!!

Hope you are doing well. I thought of you when 10/1 came around. I trust all is going well with you at work.

XOXO's

I should ad that I didn't post this to debate the Affordable Care Act, I just want to share the pricing information for anyone who is interested but can't get in through the other site.  :-)
