Hearing question

Yesterday I was chatting with my son when all of a sudden I had to stop.....whenever I spoke, I could hear my own voice in my right ear, echoing back at me.

He'd speak, I'd speak, then I had to flat out stop talking, it was very disconcerting. This only lasted 5 minutes.

He already thinks his mom is a bit on the loony side, what's one more thing, lol.

Any ideas on what my latest novelty could be?

Were you getting a delayed effect, like an echo?  Or did you feel disconnected from your own voice, like you weren't the one talking?

I've never had an echo, but for about a month prior to my diagnosis, I had a real problem with speech.  I'd start talking, and then I'd lose track of what I was saying, or it felt like somebody else was talking.  I couldn't figure out what was going on.  It really felt like i was two people - the one doing the talking, and the one listening to the one doing the talking.  Very strange.  I've wondered what caused it - well, obviously brain damage, but which part of my brain was damaged?  And is it still damaged?

No problems with ears that I can think of.

The effect was like when somebody has their speaker phone on, and you hear yourself talking. It was a delayed effect.

Fortunately short-lived. But I was having trouble telling my son that I couldn't talk with him, because I couldn't get the words out due to hearing myself say them.

Never a dull moment huh?

Interesting...  Well, this is just a guess...  I know that this happens in the eyes - the optic nerrve can be damaged, so the signal takes longer to get to the brain from one eye.  Which makes moving objects or bright lights disorienting for me.  Maybe it's the same for the ears?
