Heat Intolerance? I have a new Treadmill w/ Built-In Fan

Hi everyone!  My husband just bought me a new treadmill from Sears that has a built-in fan that blows cool air.  We researched in consumer reports and this was a best buy.

It's called a Pro Trainer 420 and I think it is on sale for $350.  I miss my 2 mile daily walks outdoors, but have made friends with my new treadmill.  Its great because I don't find myself a mile from home with stiff, numb and wobbly legs.  Some days I don't get on it at all - and some days I can go for 20 minutes!

The fan really does keep you cool!  It also has a plug-in for a MP3 player, heart rate monitor and also two really hefty bars you can hold on to.

This is not sales pitch and I DO NOT work for Sears - just wanted to share the info.

Happy day!  Julia

That sounds wonderful; wish I had room for one in my apartment.  I even have a loaded MP3 player to plug in.  I used to walk for miles, walk to do my shopping, LOVED to walk.  Now I wear a pedometer to count my steps around my apartment, down to get the mail, take out the trash, or walk around a store I drove to. I walk to my doctors appointments, but that's like three blocks.  I have good days when I can do a mile or so, but it sure would be nice to do it in the comfort of my own home!

The treadmills at 24 Hour Fitness have the fans, but the noise level there is kind of off-putting to me.  I guess I'll have to wait until I'm feeling well enough to return to my water exercise classes.  Don't get too warm there; actually, the cold water sometimes gives me awful muscle cramps, so I wear a rash guard shirt to keep me warm enough there.

Enjoy that treadmill for me too, OK?

Denise,
I agree with you that it's important to stay active as long as we are able!  Yes, I still get the numb, wobbly legs and shocks of pain - but I hold on to the bars and try to keep going.  I'm glad to hear your doing well!

Kathy,
Now I don't have the MP3 player, but I'll share my treadmill with you if I can borrow yours?  : )   We live in a small cottage built in the 1940's w/ 2 bedrooms and 1 bath - so unfortunately the treadmill is in our bedroom where it serves two purposes - it's great to hang clothes on too!  BTW, the fan on this treadmill is pretty quiet and doesn't bother me - and I am very sensitive to "noises."

Thanks!  Julia
