Hello and welcome to the forum!!! I must commend you for being a SAHD!! Good for you!!
I don't have any experience with the intestinal issues you are facing now. I hope you can get some answers and relief tomorrow!
Welcome again! Pat :)
Hello and welcome to the forum. I can empathize with your adominal pain, its a daily struggle for me. I am type 1 diabetic with pancreatic insufficiency. I am here because I was thought to have MS but right now they are saying not. I love it here so I just hang around sometimes and try to offer encouragement and thoughts on my 'mimics' of a combo of diabetic neuropathy, stroke and CaEbv.
I did have gall bladder disease that only showed up as 'sludge' on the ultrasound. When they got in there, it was full of stones and very diseased. None of the stones showed on the ultrasound.
Hope you can find some answers very soon,
Jazzy
Eliza, thanks for the info. I should get results tomorrow,. If they are not conclusive I will ask about what you posted - this sound way to close to waht is happening tome. Thanks again.
Frann, My other son is doing well. he has ADHD and had some global motor delays. He is virtually caught up thoug. He is extremely smart. The school was having issues with him and did an IQ test, he scored 130. My autistic son is in a special program in the public school. We had to fight the district and get an attorney on board, but we got his needs me. He is now doing excellent as well. You siad your grandson has issues??? Is ther a diagnosis yet? You are coorect too, no matter how bad things get for me, to see my kids grow and smile and laugh takes all the pain and worry away.
Thanks for the kind words.

Welcome!!!
I am so glad to hear that you are inspired by your wonderful twin boys. I am sure they must love having their daddy home with them... what a blessing.
You mentioned one of your sons has autism and is also deaf...is he going to school or are you home teaching? How is your other twin doing?
My grandson is 20 months old and has special needs. He has low muscle tone and we recently found out through an MRI that he has diminished white matter in the brain... everything takes time but recently he was able to get himself into a sitting position... it was such an accomplishment...
we all did the halleluja dance... he just flashed us his great smile as if to say... so what's the big deal!! anyway he receives lots of early intervention and we look forward to the day when he says his first word or takes his first step... i also have a grandaughter who is 7 months old and she is doing great and reaching all her milestones...I thank GOD for my precious grandchildren... they are the icing on the cake, the joy beyond understanding... they make my day bright ... now matter how bleak... i am sure you understand.
I think it is wondeful that you are able to be there for your sons... out of your own situation with MS, you are able to be home with them... GOD bless you all.
Welcome again, you are in my prayers. Stay well...
Frann
Good for you being a stay at home dad. My son is a stay at home dad and he would not change it.
I am in the process of being diagnosed with MS. But I do have diabetes, I started having abdominal pain. Went to see a gastro dr he did a nuclear dumping test. What that is you eat radio eggs and lay down under a special xray for 2 hours. This is to see how long it takes for the food be crunch up and get in to the intestines from your stomach. I have a very slow emptying stomach which is called gastro paresis. This can be caused by diabetes and by MS also some people just get it. What causes it is neuropathy the nerves to the stomach get paralized and they are not able to crunch the food up to get through the opening. Your stomach muscles are like the heart muscle they have to contract to work. There is a gastro pacemaker very much like the heart pace maker it is made by Medtronic. I haven't gotten brave enough for that.
Ask your gastro Dr for this test.
Good luck
Eliza
My doctor originally thought it was my gall bladder. She said everything I described was a symptom of that. The ultrasound showed negative though. She then ordered more tests to seee if there is an enzyme showing positive for the gall bladder. If it is, she said we could go ahead and get it removed. I'll just hang in there and see what happens.

Hi and welcome, I'm so glad you are joining our growing little family.
Your boys sound great. I have 3 children but only 1 still at home and he is 13. He is such a joy to me.
I had severe stomach problems like that and it was my gallbladder. Since they have taken it out I still have bad bouts of constipation but getting my gallbladder out was a big relief.
I hope this can be of some help and again welcome.
I'll be praying,
Carol
I'll put in my ten cents worth. Long before I had any symptoms or a diagnosis of MS I had "episodes" going back to 1975 which was when the first one started. I never connected it to MS then and now. I would have such intense pains in my lower abdomen that it would cause nausea, dizziness and then I would faint and most times lose control of my bowel if I couldn't get to the bathroom.
Fortunately I was alone when this happened, at home, except for two occasions. You never forget them. I would lie on the floor for maybe 15-20 minutes afterwards and shiver. The whole thing lasted about 45 minutes to an hour. When it was over I would be perfectly fine. The body does have a coping mechanism and when you faint you not only don't feel the pain any more but you relax all your muscles.
I might have one episode per year or I would go several years without an episode. Over the years the episodes got less frequent and the last one I had was maybe ten years ago. For me they always happened during times of stress. I always knew when it was going to start and I probably did not help by stressing about it, knowing exactly what was going to happen.
In restrospect I never really went to the doctor about it because it was something that came and went with no after effects. I mentioned it in passing many years back to one doctor who said it could be a spastic colon or IBS
Your experience sounds different, though, and you are doing the right thing by checking it out.
I hope you find an answer soon

I had that kind of pain when I had my gallbladder problems and then again when I developed what they are calling irritable bowel syndrome. I don't know if that has been checked out for you. I hope you feel better soon.
I have a nephew who is Autistic and he is a real gem, but I do understand that you have your hands full.
I hope you get some answers soon

Hey everybody,
Thanks for the nice welcome and input. To answer some of the questions:
I had my apendix out about 5 years ago.
I have had a colonostopy(sp?)
I am not sure if they checked the pancreas yet - the did a full adominal ultra sound, cat scan and xray though.
I get my second set of blood work results back today. The first showed a very slight increase in a liver enzyme but otherwise normal.
My doctor did prescribe some zantac to me two days ago. It hasn't helped yet though.
This feels very much like muscle spasms around the intestines. I tried a flexiril(anti-spsm med) the other nite and it seemed to help.
I guess I just need to wait and watch.
Thanks again to all of you. I am really glad to find this cyber group - it looks like a great place for info and support.

Howdy...welcome to the group! I don't have any experience with abdominal pain, but it sounds like your doctor has been doing tons of tests...not appendicitis, is it? That's about my knowledge of abdominal problems. :) I'm sure your boys keep you busy...I'm a stay at home mommy so I know the drill! Take care, and welcome!

Welcome to our cyber family,
I'm currently doing a work up for my stomache,I'm having a scope done next week.I've had other test that have come back normal.GP thinks its spasm related, which I have chronic spacticity.
Have they checked the colon or the pancreous?
With MS its a learning process and learning to seperate the MS from other symptoms can be difficult. Its good that you are following up with your GP.
Medications can alter the stomache and can abdominal pain and cramping.
Your little guys sound precious, children are an inspiration.

Welcome to the group, hopefully somone with some experience will be able to give you some answers soon.
Again, welcome!
Jo
Welcome to the group.
I have been diagnosed with MS for over 12 years and I have never heard of the kind of intestinal problems you are having as being a "symptom" of MS. Now it can be caused by medications that you are taking.
You did the right thing by getting to the doctor and having all the proper testing done. Maybe you could find out from your doctor if any medications you may be taking, can cause the symptoms you are having.
Again welcome, StayAtHomeDad,
Heather
