Anytime, Sue! It actually feels pretty good that I can help someone with some info.....
Here's something I just found online:
Sleep problems are common in MS, but are somewhat underrecognised. In a study from UK, as many as half of the patients with MS (of varying severity) studied had some sleep-related problem. The commonest was insomnia, usually related to spasm, pain, immobility, bladder problems, or medication. Snoring and sleep apnea were observed, but no more frquently than in the general population. It has also been felt that periodic leg movements may be more common in MS. Besides these relatively common problems, there are more than a few case reports of some unusual or rare sleep disorders in MS. These include secondary narcolepsy and central sleep apnea (“Ondine’s curse”- a failure to breathe during sleep).

Thanks for the feedback! There is so much info to absorb about this disease, I had no idea there were 2 types of apnea. Thanks again.

Quix:
Sorry about the invisible thing....I'm just feeling sorry for myself today....Some days are better than others, I guess....I thank you for trying....I promise I will try and think of something to ask you that you do know.....lol....
Plus, I need to give myself another swift kick in the a** because it could be worse, right?
Smitty:
I did some research online and spoke with my Neuro about the Sleep Apnea thing...I have CENTRAL sleep apnea which has nothing to do with snoring....(that's Obstructive Sleep Apnea). Anyway, my Neuro thinks that the Central Sleep Apnea is my 'first symptom'....He also pointed out that there are several lesions on the part of the brain that controls 'autonomic' functions (sleep, breathing, BP, etc....)
I did, however find some info that relates MS with the CENTRAL sleep apnea issue...(They are just finding a correlation between the two)

Ok, can someone tell me what sleep apnea has to do with MS? The specialist has ordered a sleep study along with the EMG and 2nd MRI. He asked if I snore at night, told him he'd have to ask my beagle, ha ha... Seriously though what is the correlation if any between sleep apnea and MS. Thanks.
Sue
I'm sorry I missed the pass off from Rena. I was never a neurologist and I don't know what "excessive temporal theta activity" means. I see now why you are feeling invisible.
Ask me something I DO know, please.
Quix
Thanks Rena.....I appreciate that....I found a few things online too, but nothing too specific....
I also posted in the Neurology Forum for Dr. Abhijeet.....Hope he can shed some light on it for me...
Thanks again....
Talk soon
Tammy
I am going to bump this up in the hopes that Quix will be able to shed some light on it...I have been searching all afternoon and have found so many things related, I would rather leave it to her...sorry honey, I tried.
Rena
No, but I have been diagnosed with CENTRAL sleep apnea......
Do you have severe insomnia?
