These are the spinal tap results for my stepson. Since I have not actually seen my own spinal tap results yet and was only told that my spinal tap was negative and showed no O banding I am not entirely familar with the meaning of these results. The test is extensive so I will only list the results that were marked with a H under the Flag category.
Result IgG (loc):1.07mg/dL Reference < 0.10mg/dL
Result IgG Index: 0.91 Reference < 0.70mgdL
Result CNS IgG Synthesis Rate: 5.9mg/24hr Reference< 3.3mg/24hr
Result IgM (loc) : 0.016mg/dL Reference5 well defined gamma restriction bands that are not present in the patient's corresponding serum sample. These bands indicate abnormal synthesis of gammaglobulins in the central nervous system. This finding is supportive evidence of Multiple Sclerosis, but should be interpreted in conjunction with all clinical and laboratory data pertaining to this patient.
Myelin Basic Protien CSF: Result: 13.9ng/mL Reference: < 3.0ng/mL
IgM CSF: Result: 0.15ng/dL Reference: 5 O bands is more than enough to make this spinal tap possitive, is this right? What about all of these other numbers and results?
Thanks,
~Santana~
