Hey Guys Your Advice Was Right

To those who replied to my "Help Industrial Strength Constipation" question, your advice was spot on.  I went to my GP and just told him of my problem, I did debate about saying that I go on a MS Forum where people have had a similar problem and this is what they have suggested but I thought perhaps I would see what he recommended I do.

He prescribed me Movicol and yes Q he is monitoring the whole thing.  I just googled Movicol and according to Wikipedia it's the same as what Lulu suggested.  Expensive stuff tho, it was $29 but hopefully it will be worth it.  I took my first sachet in water this morning, so I am awaiting results but I am sure you don't really want to know all the details of this.

Thanks Guys,
My GP had his own to say about what my neuro said, might ask thoughts on that in a separate post.

Cheers,
Udkas.

Well again thanks for your advice, you will hear me cheering across the ocean when I have a result :-)  Thanks Lulu for telling me to be patient, I will try!!!  See great advice from experience.

To Quix, I think it is great that I have found a place to be able to discuss such intimate details and I think it is important to discuss these things and on a forum with people who are going through similar experiences is much easier than at the neuro's office.  It is great to know your not alone, and although constipation seems like a small deal it can be horrible to deal with.  It's amazing how many of us have constipation problems due to our meds or our lack of sensation etc.

Well in my case I think the Vesicare fixed one problem and then created another one.

Thanks again guys, the advice was spot on. B.T.W. Q Vesicare in Aussie is $65 for a month supply.

Cheers,
Udkas.

Udkas,
Recently I read  on the PG 3350 label that it may take 3-4 days for this product to work, so be patient.  You didn't get this way overnight and sometimes it takes just as long to get things moving again!

I think this discussion highlights the very basic ways in which this disease takes us down.  The things that we take for granted, peeing, pooping, walking, taking care of ourselves, having fun, enjoying the sun, sleeping, having sex.  One by one we see these becoming "problems" that we must deal with, make plans around, take meds for.

It is important, Udkas, that we discuss them right out in the open - and that we do it frequently enough to catch the new people and all the people who are too reticent to discuss this with their docs.

Your experience also shows that we usually give spot on advice.

Yay, for us!

And I hope the Movicol works its magic for you soon.

Hi Laura,
this is powder and it is in sachets that you add to water, they told me half a glass and to start off with two sachets a day and gradually increase them.  So far nothing has happened, but I only took one as I didn't want to have an accident, so I will try the other one tonight when I go to bed but I have had no stomach cramps either.

Wow I can't believe I am discussing this, but thanks for the info.  I don't think you can get it here without a script but it is the same according to wikipedia.

Thanks again,
Udkas.

Funny, but at times with all the bladder and bowel talk around here I feel like I'm two years old and going through potty training!  :-)

I don't know how your drug pricing is down under .....  that may be a good deal.  ??  Is it at least a much larger bottle than if you bought a jar of Miralax?  The stuff we get here is powder and we mix it by the spoonful in water - no sachets to help with the prep.

This can take several doses to begin to work - don't give up, it will happen.

be well, Lulu
